Experience with online college courses, anyone?

Question

I am currently living in an area with no colleges worth going to. I am a Nutrition/Dietetics major. I really just need to take Biology and Chemistry online for now. Any tips, opinions, or information?

And...I have done lots of online searches, but I would like some personal insight.

Half of my MBA was taken through ONLINE courses. My university was GREAT about them and the forum they had set up really worked out well. However, they are ALOT more difficult (in my opinion) than just taking a "live" course. You are basically left to do all the work on your own and their tend to be alot more assignments than you would have if you took the "live" course. Also, if the course material is complicated and not easily understood...you will get confused quickly online. Alot of people have an opinion that they would be easier online, but this is completely false. If you are good at keeping on track in your studies, are very self-disciplined and have a knack for Biology and Chemistry...then you should be just fine.

My tip would be to NOT get behind, use the boards to communicate anything you need help with...questions, etc. If you don't feel you are doing well and need to take the course at school...get out FAST and drop the class...don't think it will get easier. It just won't.

Online courses are all papers. You read articles and texts, and write papers demonstrating your comprehension. Campus Classes can be fun, you have an actual professor, and get to meet people. However, going to college online is very different from going to college and supplementing some of your course work with online classes. I wish I had done that in the summers so I could have taken less classes in the summer and free'd up more time for other activities during the school year. Easy depends on the course material, and the professor regardless of online or campus.

I took a hybrid, on-line, face to face, communications course. The fact that it was mixed didn't help, becuse people never used the online tools.
However, i do know people who are currently taking online courses in various disciplines. They seem to be very pleased with the dynamics, and with the fact that they can pursue higher education on their own schedule, without having to quit their jobs or travel.
Personally, I prefer face to face, because I don't like the fact that interaction in online courses is usually asynchronic. I like the immediate feedback, and I don't have the discipline required for online learning.
Whatever you choose to do, as long as it is from an accredited university, you should be fine. I don't know how bio and chem adapt to online formats. That is something you should research about too.

I currently am attending Colorado Technical University Online. My major is Information Technology, but from what I've seen with CTU, they are pretty good about handling everything involved with online courses. They also send you a survey after each course, to evaluate the course content, books, bookstore that sends you the books, and the instructor. There are lots of people there at CTU that have transferred from the online course program at University of Phoenix. Well, I cant get into specifics about that program, but my wife just finished her degree in Business something or other.
But she did it at UOP (University of Phoenix). My suggestion would be to contact Copper Mountain College, Chapman University or National University who offer something right there on or near 29 stumps. (http://www.29palms.usmc.mil/visit/education.html).

I did the online thing a few years back when it was first coming out and I had to get out of it, for me it was a waste of time because of other people in my group being total flakes. I prefer to have at least one night a week in a classroom.
