I live in NM. Yeah, it gets cold in the winter, but not like, say, South Dakota. Albuquerque is much cooler than Phoenix, though their latitudes are almost the same, because of the elevation in ABQ, which is about 5000 feet. There are some pretty high mountains in NM...up to over 13,000 feet, and Taos ski area is one of the better known ski areas in the world. It gets hundreds of inches of snowfall every winter.
The average temp in ABQ in January is probably around 35 to 40...average of highs and lows. Average in July? ~75-80.

They have fall and winter. I happened to visit Albuquerque when it was snowing. I could see the horror in the eyes of the people driving the first time in the snowstorm. My car did not have winter tires.....that was equally scary than driving with the winter first timers. In my country snow is cleared from the roads with a system, so I never experienced anything like that before.

I've never lived in New Mexico, but am a truck driver. I have been in Albuquerque several times when there was more than a few inches of snow on the ground. There were also a lot of wrecks on I-40 both on the east and west sides of the city.

Yes New Mexico does get winter but it is different than all the other places. There is no snow in New Mexico. The temps do drop but not that much.
