Seriously...2 hours for 10 acts that last a minute apiece?? A one-hour results show?? Gimme a break!

With such a huge audience? Easy. So that the network can sell more commercial time. Rates for TV and radio advertising time (and print space) are based on the number of viewers/reader reached and charged by "Cost Per Thousand" (CPM).

Yeah you're right. It does seem a bit ridiculous. If they're going to take SOOOO long for the 10 acts they should give the acts more time to perform. I don't think it takes a whole hour for a results show!

Most NBC shows last season sucked, so now they have hardly anything for the summer re-runs, and they still have to put something on primetime. AGT is new, it has that whole competition thing going for it, its doing well in the ratings, so they're milking it for the advertising bucks.
