That's a racist comment. There are a lot of white people acting like blacks also(Vanilla Ice, Eminem and many more trying to act black to look cool). Many asians also try to die their hair blond to look like white also(I don't think that's working out with their facial structure and their eyes neither) so don't single out blacks. The fact is there are different people in every race.

Well some people are in denial of there own color they don't want to come as what they truly are as far as there nationality.I mean think about it black people have went threw slavery an all an and they have always have been treated like they where below that white person and now a days looks are based on not being white but you can be black but your skin must be a type of light or you must be another nationality because now some people only see being Asian , white or Hispanic better because of the skin tone an hair and maybe because of where they are from. and I think now I mean some people may be with that person because they are in love but others do it because they think that nationality is better than being black.that's what America has come down to what being beautiful is.BUT DON'T GET IT TWISTED YOU GOT YOUR BLACKS THAT TRY TO ACT BETTER THEN WHITES AND THAT WHITE PERSON WILL TRY TO ACT BLACK IT CAN GO THE OTHER WAY WITH EACH NATIONALITY.

Some people do this from ALL races. So are the whites who try "acting black" ashamed of their race? And those blacks maybe just didn't want to be hounded about a product. People can be like that regardless of race you know. I'm not ashamed to be black, but tell the truth: what's really "acting black" and "acting white"?

I agree with some of the people it does have to do with class, how/where you are raised, and slavery. My grandmother told me (who is darker) my great great grandmother a field worker( on my grandfathers side) was raped by her master and had a light skin child (my great grandmother is an only chld) The light skinned was treated better than the darker field *******. So to keep the light skin in the family they would often marry a cousin that was also mixed to keep the light skin going so we would have a few better opportunities. needless to say when my great grandmother was 14 she married her cousin and had my grandfather so they could live and pass as a white couple. They moved to New York in the 1930s and divorced soon after they had achieved to middle class. They never want to go back to the heartache of the field or the streets for that matter. My great grandmother looked down on my grandmother when my grandfather married her because she was too dark. When they had children My aunt was born darker and my mother was light, so as a result my great grandmother discriminated on my aunt and never let my mother go outside, afraid of she would get too dark from the sun. My grandfather discriminated against my mother because she was not dark enough and treated my aunt better. So as a result my mother is not at all close with her father but more close to her grandmother and also married a light skinned man to have me. So she grew up looking down on darker people. It's the mentality of those slave years that pass down from generation to generation that keep us from living in unity in our own community. Once these people leave the streets they never want to come back and they never tell their children about the history of why things is. We have just as much prejudice in our own community than any other race could give us so it's also going to be a lose-lose situation if our people no matter what class, color or whatever don't close the gap and brings us together it's up to our generation! Keep ya head up sista we'll work it out

This is dumbass bullsh*t. We are always hearing about how skin color is superficial. That race is irrelevant. Then someone like you comes along and says "acting white" or "acting black."

BEHAVIOR IS NOT DETERMINED BY SKIN COLOR. There is NO WAY TO ACT WHITE. There is NO WAY TO ACT BLACK.

Now would you PLEASE drop the racial definitions that minorities would NEVER allow me to suggest were true.

This definition of certain behaviors being "black" behaviors is damaging to your community and the reason why other races still don't want you in their schools or suburbs. Get the chocolate chip off your shoulder and stop trying to define what it means to be black for everyone.

I grew up in a town where I was one of four black kids in my school. When I finally moved to a black area, I was shocked at the racism towards dark skinned blacks (I am light skinned, but around white people -well).

I think our self loathing carries on from slave times when the massa's children (who prob. were lighter than the Africans) would work in the house and get better treatment. Then, ofcourse, passing for white WAS a big deal and meant a better life.

I guess we're taught to hate ourselves and all of our LEADERS are only in it for publicity and money and not out to make real progress or give us something to look up to.

I wish ALL people would realize that colour doens't encompass your whole being. And for blacks who hate blacks- Get real. I AM YOU!!!

If you still feel like there is an acting White or acting Black then you are still 20 years behind what is going on with the Races in America.

First of all sista, learn how to spell. Secondly, just because they don't want the product YOU are selling to them doesn't mean they are ashamed of their color or "acting" white. Personally I don't like people trying to sell me things on the street either. Maybe you're just annoying them and thats why they ignore you.

Listen-all because you are selling something does not mean black people should stop and buy whatever it is you have because both of you are black. Maybe the person is just rude or doesnt have cash. Or better yet-NOT INTERESTED. Wise up everything is NOT ALWAYS about race.
