You mentioned that you have seen counselors nearly your whole life...has anyone of them suggested medication?...I'm justing thinking that if you've needed counseling many times and talking with a professional has not helped then it might be time to try a medication...

My teenage years sounded just as yours and they recommended medications to help with my mood but I was against them....

As my life continued down the same path of counselors over and over into my mid 20's with nothing about my outlook on life ever really changing I'd decided I'd had enough and finally tried a light antidepressant.....OMG...it's amazing the difference in my outlook on life and the good days outweigh the bad now....I look back now and realize how much I could have changed with a better attitude (like I have now)

Of course, you are only 15, so I'm not sure if taking medication is as simple (you are younger), but if you have a proffesional to over see you on it...that will be all you need...

I don't mean to sound as if I'm just pushing meds on you to solve your problems..but I had a deppressing time growing up and nothing EVER helped no matter how much therapy I got. Sometimes it's not just in your head or your attitude...Sometimes there is a true chemical need for medication to help your mood to elevate so that you are open to therapy and it works.....

Dont' give up, if you talk to a therapist...It is against the law for them to repeat anything you have said during your appointments to your parents...... unless you are attempting suicide or to hurt another person..... If you are afraid to tell them about your problems because they might tell your mom...telling the therapist is just what you may need, because if you have been going to counselors over and over again but have not told them about a particular problem because you are afraid they would tell your mom, that might be why the sessions never really worked...because you still hold on to your issues and have not expressed them and dealt with them.....

Also being scared, panicky, and anxious is a sign of depression, don't let those feelings stop you from seeing a doctor because trust me that is just what you need.

You sound like you are possibly depressed. Consider the safest person in your eyes and talk to them.

Life is hard when you are a teenager. And 10% of teens get depressed at some point. Despite your fears, it is to your advantage to go ahead and get some help as it determines how you will deal with stress as your grow up.

Doctors are not allow to discuss your personal issues with family unless it is a suicidal subject. So don't worry. And it is ok to fear what your mother might think...but remember they probably care more about you than anyone else too.

I don't know what has happened to you and why you are down...but I do know that there are resources online and in person that can make all the difference. When I was growing up...(at 15 actually)...I didn't have anyone and I grew up fearing what people would think. It GREATLY affected the adult that I became.
I ended up having a very serious depression at 20 that made me drop out of college for a year. Don't do that to yourself....

There are people who care...even if your parents aren't the first choice for you. Seek help now and you will have the resources in yourself later in life.

Be tough and seek help. Everyone needs help sometimes...and it will make your life easier later on.....

I will be your friend if you like. Just IM me or email at jodygrissom@yahoo.com

I have been there.

Being depressed is not selfish. You simply need to decide what is it you want. Start small. A good day. A laugh with Mom. Being able to enjoy a particular program on the telly. Work up to still more important things. A relationship. a job. Old chinese proverb goes like this the longest journey begins with the first step. good luck.

Everyone is depressed day to day. It does not matter what age you are at. The doctor will understand where you are coming from and I don't understand why you can't tell your parents sometimes they can help to where you wont need a doctor. Sometimes parents give the best advice. Unless your parents are the cause of the depression then i would go to the doctor.

You can go to a doctor or counselor to speak with them about your feelings. You can also look in your phone book and they have 800 numbers you can call that are also confidential. The only way they will tell your parents anything is if you are suicidal or want to harm yourself in some way. Everyone needs someone to talk to at some point or another, don't be ashamed to talk to someone, even if it is your mom, I am sure she would want to help you too.

Please see someone who can help you; and I don't mean to get you doped up on medication, but find the root of the problem rather than treat the symptom. There are some medical reasons for depression, they're not all psychological... you should find out. For me it was my hormones going out of whack.

Check out some web sites dealing with depression, it will help you realize you're not alone.

Perhaps you SHOULD let your Mom know... she may surprise you with how supportive she could be. Holding it in is the worst thing you can do... it only gets worse... trust me.

See a doctor, but he may suggest that you tell your mom, which might not be a bad thing considering what you're going thru. With depression (if diagnosed) you need to have the support of your family to get you thru it. Be strong and I wish you luck!

Go to your mom and tell her what is bothering you ..You are too young to be depressed and I don't know what is going on to make you depressed.....If you go to a doctor they can tell your mom because you are a minor. But make it easier on yourself and your mom by talking about your problems with your mom first..She is alot smarter than you give her credit for...

what if you tell your mom, hasn't she noticed your feelings or mood. hasn't she asked you what's going on. how can you get help if you don't tell her. if you can't it might be easier if your doctor does. depression is a serious illness that if left untreated especially at such a young age can lead to some serious health problems and does not get better untreated. please get help, don't be afraid. good luck
