Hasek may be getting old, but he is still worth it. Ottawa should have kept him and possibly had him around to mentor their young rising goalie. Hasek was having a phenominal year until the olympics, and although he may get hurt every once and a while, he brings so much value to a team.
He's a stanley cup winner, vezina trophy winner, and a world class athlete. Ottawa should have kept him, for at least half a year to see what would happen. It would of been a risk, but so is signing any big name player. ANYONE can get injured....should of Dallas made a move on him? YES, because when he's healthy he is at the top of his game....
Ottawa will do well without him, but it wouldn't of hurt them to keep him. I think it works for both Ottawa and Detroit, but only time will tell.
If it was me, I would have given Hasek more time, but I am not currently an NHL GM.
Thanks,
Rich

I am A Sens fan as well, I did not see how it was possible to bring back Hasek to Ottawa, It was a very selfish reason to go to Olympics even thou he already had a gold medal and the fact Sens ask him not to go because of his age and the fact we wanted him to be fresh for playoff and a history of a bad groin
I lost all respect for Hasek its shows that he is only there to make his stats and only looks out for himself
I give you another example of this selfishness every year the senators have celebration event to kick off the beginning a few days before the season starts of course the entire team was there but one player Domink Hasek- It just show you what kind of character he is
I would take my chances with Martin Gerber over Hasek in this stage of Hasek career
I guaranteed you Detroit fan the only thing Domink Hasek will leave you is a bad taste in your mouth just like he did with Sens
Classless man

This is the second time that Muckler has had Hasek, and the second time he's screwed him over in the playoffs. He quit vs Dallas when he was with Buffalo, and again this past season with the Sens. He's a selfish guy, plain and simple. Dominic Hasek cares about Dominic Hasek. Don't think for one minute that he ever had fond feelings about Ottawa.

I'm a Sabres fan too and honestly im glad Hasek is out of our division and conference. Gerber is a solid keeper though. I Don't think either team made the right decision Ottawa should of given him 1 more year and Detroit should of looked for a long term goalie like Biron.

Ottawa did the right thing, Hasek is getting old and he's hard to deal with, in his mind he still thinks he can play like when he was 25 yrs old, but his best days are long behind him, Ottawa's gonna try to develop Ray Emery, and I'm sure Hasek will just backup Manny Legace.

Hasek was a bad pick the first time the Sens picked him up, his old and cant move the way he did in the past, he has groin problems and they don't go away that easy especially his style of play. so the Sens did the right thing of not keeping him and the Red Wings did the wrong thing by signing him.
Detroit Red Wings have gone from great to worst since the greatest coach of all time retired that is Scotty Bowman.

Ottawa screwed up and handled the tempermental "artiste" all wrong but that's Muckler and Murray for ya. Both guys have yet to take a team as GM and coach to the Cup (OK, Mucks coached the Oilto one...but as a GM...nope).
Hasek at .925 save pct. was great...not just good...great! He doesn't get injured at Olys, Ott win the Cup.
Det made a great move.

I'm a Sens fan too. He did well last season and could have won the Vezina trophy had it not been for the groin injury he suffered in the Olympics. I think Ottawa did the right thing though by letting him go. It's just going to complicate everything had he stayed plus Martin Gerber and Ray Emery tandem would do just fine.

I don't think you can put a good answer to this question until we see how Hasek has come back from his injury. I'm sure he worked out in some capacity in front of the Red Wings management before they brought him on. I guess they saw enough gas left in the tank for the Dominator.

Screw hasek, he's a friggin wuss. He had his chance to do something for Ottawa last season and he milked his useless injury. The team that benefited was defiantly Ottawa, he was too unreliable, to keep.........
