My tortoise has tiny red and white spots on his/her neck.
Is that just his coloring, or is it bad.
If you can, please give me some webstites about
turtle and tortoise care.
Thank you so much.

spots or bumps? spots are probably just a bit of natural coloration. Bumps may indicate a problem and you should seek professional care. Try your local herp society

Sounds to me like it is the coloring of the tortoise, we have a redfoot tortoise that has coloring like that, as well as some yellow mixed in. She is such a sweetie! I can tell you about tortoise care, but don't know websites although if you google tortoises, you'll probably get a whole mess of websites. I would also recommend going on kingsnake.com. They have info. sites, and chat rooms even about reptiles, etc. Its worth it! We were having a problem with one of our snakes, and they talked me through why he wasn't eating. Very helpful! Good luck! I'm sure he'll be fine and you'll do fine taking care of him! Have fun!

ok don't listen to "wednesday" either. turtles don't always have webbed feet. in fact there is such a thing as Box Turtles, which are land turtles and do not have webbed feet and can go completed in their shell... which forms a box, hence the name.

take your tortoise to a vet that is experienced with herps.. call first to make sure. without seeing it in person none of us can tell you 100% what it is. and you want the best for your little guy, so take him to a professional. Please.

Sounds like you may have a slider turtle which naturally have red markings on both sides of their necks. Type in www.petturtles.com. and you can clearly see the red markings. Are you aware of the difference between a turtle and a tortoise.

*Please don't listen to the 1st response to your question.*

First is this a tortoise or a turtle? Tortoise = hinged shell, no webbing betwwen feet, can completely go into it's shell, frea of water. Usually Brown, or black shell.

Turtle = webbed feet, no hinge on shell, swims well. usually green or gray shell.

First determine which it is, then search for a picture of it. You should also determine it's sex. Please do your homework!

If you have a pic send it to me I will help you.
