first, take it away from your house,they stink to high heave while they decompose.now, put the critter in a spot where the sun will hit it all day long.you may want to put it into something that draws heat and that an animal can't get into..next, pour bleach on it , this will help to keep animals off of it.check it daily and you will find that in a week or so, no soft body tissue remains.carefull when you move it , it will fall apart quite easily.

If you live close to me you can have my horseshoe crabs' empty shell after it molts. Or, you could try letting an ant colony feast on in for a few days. You preserve seahorses by letting them soak overnight in isopropyl alcohol (rubbing alcohol) and setting them out to dry, but the shell might dissolve.

Soak it in water with salt, then take it out to the sun, and place foil paper underneath.

try burying it, this might stink but the sun will dry it out quickly and it might slide out of the shell
