The cloning of humans is not really based around creating clones (some scientist may actually want clones but the majority dont) The precise aim is to develop the skills to improve human life and to make stem cells, these cells can then be used to prolong and improve the life of humans. Stem cells (if they ever get properly developed) will greatly effect our lives for the good.
The idea that Clones will be walking the planets stealing our lives and family will for the forseable future be confined to hollywood. I cannot recall the name of a single scientist who seeks to have fully alive clones of people alive. Some scientist are attempting to clone people who have died (well, at least considering it) but you must rember that a clone of your mother is not going to be youre mother. She would not know anything about you or have knowledge of you.
Creating clones of humans could also cause bioligical issues, the first cloned animal, dolly the sheep, Had medical issues related to old age prior to her reaching of old age.
Religous people dislike the idea considerably. Take george bush, he likes to pull funding out of this region of research and putting it into other places. The main group which dislike human cloning is the Catholic church which has the view that every embro that is created should be allowed life, however in cloning each embro would have to be destroyed as it would break the ethics of science.
Its up to you to decide if cloning is good or bad, not anyone else.

Tissue cultures are already clones, whether made from stem cells, cancer cells or other cells. They wil probably play a larger role in biomediacal reasearch and medicine.

As for reproductive cloning: I don't think many parents will opt for cloning. Maybe there will be a few million clones walking around in fifty years. Who cares. They will not be different from the rest of us.

this would be my worst fears - humans are cloned without any nervous system simply to be spare parts; humans are cloned for mindless aggression - military use; parents are deprived of the natural grief and healing process by being allowed to clone dead offspring.
