well it will cause corosion on all charged circuits, battery, powersupply etc., was it powered when you spilled? if no, what did you spill, just water or juice/soda. if it was just water then drying should fix it, unless it was electrified when you spilled. if it was juice, you should wash it with clean water to get rid of sugar.

most likely if it was off it will be fine, but if it was on then things can short out and die, if it was off then take out the cmos battery and dry it w/ a hairdrier and let it sit for 24hrs then try powering it up, if it smokes then it is done for, but you might get lucky

Shouldn't be any problems. Impirities from moisture in the air, etc would do about the same damage as water that's gone away. Which is nil. So long as you didn't try to run the computer wet, everything will be perfectly fine when it's all dried.

if the water hasn't destroyed the circuit board, and it's dried completely - no consequences.
if it's partly damaged the consequences are hardly predictable.

Why would anyone take water near his computer. It wouldnt only ruin your boards it can be dangerous for you.
