Probably to hide their identity so they can do more terrorist work. But I really think its cuz they are all ugly and couldn't get a job as models... Take a look at Binladens neice, she is not that bad looking so she became a model and decided to pose nude for a magazine. I bet if she was ugly she would have become a terrorist.

Two major reasons:
1) Terrorists do not wish to be targeted for extermination.
2) The masking makes them appear more sinister.

Hiding their identity is part of the mind game, too. And they don't want anyone to know that behind that scarf or ski mask is that nice young 17 year old boy next door who picks up groceries for his mama.

I have often wondered the same thing. I think they are cowards who want to inflict pain and cause people to live in a state of terror without being caught and suffering the consequences of their actions.

I did not know they hid their faces. What they do is to pretend to be a civilian, because they are cowards and hide behind their grandmothers and children.

For the exact same reason that all criminals with an ounce of intelligence does. Fear of being caught and punished.

Not all terrorists do e.g. OBL. The reason is so their enemies do not exactly know who they are so they can continue committing acts of terrorism. You can not destroy an enemy if you do not know who the enemy is.

That's always struck me as unusual. If their goal is martyrdom, don't they want people to know who they are?
Not that anything a terrorist does makes sense to me, but... well, that's never made sense to me.
