How long does the seed of Bahia grass have to stay on the pod before it will germinate after cutting?

I would like my grass to re-seed itself when I cut it but I don't know if I cut it every seven days if the seed will be mature enough to germinate.

Let the pod dry out until it is brittle. Some seeds will germinate from a green pod, but most of them need to dry out completely.
