I find it impractical to try to answer everything, even if I restrict myself to just a few subjects.
I try to answer the questions that seem to be genuine attempts to learn or communicate.
Even if they are hard to understand due to poor spelling or grammar.
I tend to avoid the obviously stupid questions unless they manage to amuse me.
Otherwise I tend to be an earnest answerer and usually try to earn the full 10 points or at least to give a worthy answer that may help someone out.
I have answered a few expired (via the comments section or email) questions after there were no points to be had, just so someone could have an answer.
I notice also that the quality of my answers not to mention my typing and grammar drop off remarkable if I am tired.

What are the points good for anyway? I only answer questions that make me think, and only those if I like what I thought and feel like it is worth typing out.

No, I try to stick to the ones that I have knowledge on.
Except fot the silly ones. They're funny and make me laugh.
Everyone needs that every once in a while.
