Even when he doesn't want to do it, he still ends up buying drugs & getting high & when he's done he feels like crap. He works out, play ball, does alot of activities, but hasn't been able to stop. Any suggestions!!!

I think that if he really wanted to stop, he would get help.

What kind of dope is he doing. Is he just smoking pot or is he doing street drugs. If he's just smoking..it's not that addicting and he can just quit..he's got a choice and could easily just say he doesn't want to do it anymore and stop. If he's doing street drugs, he probably needs rehab. And that means getting rid of all the friends he's got and starting over. You can't stop doing something when everyone around is you doing it.
Anything is bad in excess.

He will keep on what he's doing until he reaches a 'bottom'. He will have to come to a point in his life where he wants to stay clean more than he wants to get high. I can't tell
you how or when, but he must make the final decision about his use.
Suggest to him that he go to a Narcotic Anonymous meeting. They have all been there, and could help him.

My best suggestion is for you and his family to get together and sit down with him, talking to him about how you feel, how they feel...and most important how he feels, let him know everyone he can count on all of you to help him, but he has to make a decision for himself....it is not easy and the best thing is to get professional help....otherwise no matter how many times he tries to stop, he will always go back....Talk straight to him and tell him he has to make a decision, for himself and his future, for everything he has ever dreamed of because he is the only one with the key to doing things right.......Make him realize how valuable he is in the world, and that even if getting high takes him away from reality for a while....he has to step up, be brave, face his problems and everything he is running from, because he is using the drugs to get disconnected from everything. I hope that you can get through to him because drugs can destroy the most athletic, outstanding and successful person....so make him realiza that in the long run, is it worth it???

of course he is addicted to it, its simple what you consume will consume you so that is what he is going thru but there is no better way than going to rehab, if those who go to rehab still relapse, what makes him think that he can quit doing it all by himself?
