Pros: Kids tend to make bad decisions. Kids are immature. Kids don't understand social and economic factors or even love. The families can benefit from a good match, socially, economically, etc. You can make sure your daughter doesn't marry a drug addict or wifebeater.

Cons: Most westerners feel this should be their choice, it is a cultural matter. Increased freedom. The dream of romantic love (which is often a sour dream). Parents don't have to take so much responsibility.

I'm dead against it. Although one of my friends from college got an arranged marriage. She and her husband both admitted that they fell in love after they got married. (At least they did fall in love luckily) They've been married for over 10 years now. So some does work.

Against. This is 2006..women aren't sold to the highest bidder nor are they traded to the neighbors son for a herd of sheep. We have choices.

The bad thing is that it is a complete violation of freedom of choice, the good thing is that your parents will probably get on with your new spouse.
