The first two films (4 & 5) were totally awsome. Then the third one (6) was not as good because of the Ewoks. Then the three that were released recently were good but...

Do the whole 6 films stand up as a series? Or did the last three released decrease the value of Star Wars. Like were the first three (two) so much better than the last three (four) released?

I think only four out of the six stood up as a series. I didn't care for episode 1 and 2, but episode 3 easily fits into the original trilogy.

Total screw-up. They had a good thing with the Original Trilogy. It was ok to leave it alone. "Someone" tried to make the last three an epic but was far off the mark with the bad writing and the even worse acting. The two characters that showed ANY promise we're killed off in the first movie. That turned me off from the start. I think that if they are going to do the first two parts they should do the last. It's much more interesting and gives people the chance to see what happened to the characters they already cared about.

I liked #6. The Ewoks were cute. Why does everyone hate them so much? Way better than the Gungans. They annoyed the crap out of me for some reason. The droids too, with that "roger, roger" nonsense. Blah...

I agree; Episode V (The Empire Strikes Back) is one of my favorite movies not only because it's so well made but also because it doesn't have a happy ending; even the spoilers -- who besides me thought Vader was lying at the end? -- don't detract from a thoroughly enjoyable movie.

Do all six films, the prequel trilogy and the original trilogy, stand up as a series? People can fault Lucas' writing, dialogue, and characterization skills all they want, but the story itself ultimately ends up reflective of the culture and time in which it's released. I doubt Episodes I, II, and III would have had quite the turnout they did without resonance among the adults who'd seen the original films when THEY were kids (like me, who saw what later became Episode IV when he was five). It's STAR WARS, not "Episode IV"!

I'm a little jealous because younger people introduced to Star Wars through I, II, and III will get to see a whole story unfold and will, like we do with the original trilogy, ignore some obvious plot holes and cardboard-cutout characters. When my imagination fills in some of the details, I'm not too worried about "screwing up" -- what movie or movie series hasn't somewhere, yet we still go on seeing them.

People ideally go to movies to escape the world for a few hours, not analyze them to death, which is why I do not envy movie critics their jobs. (As I recall, the critics have panned every Star Wars film, but the people who go to the movies just to go have rave reviews.)

I feel like I've answered you in a roundabout way, but I hope it helps. Have a great day!

Despite what the critics said, I liked them all. I agree with you the Ewoks (and JarJar Binks) were BAD moves.

With that said, I think episodes 4 & 5 were the best because the whole star wars universe was new to the public, which got sick of it after almost 30 years.

I think all six films do stand up as a series, the life of Anakin/Darth Vader. He was indeed proved himself to be "the choosen one" when he killed the emperor.

I really liked the last two minutes of "revenge of sith" when Obi-wan gives the baby to Uncle Owen. The whole story came together at that point.

Yeah George Lucas lost his directing and storytelling ability after so many years and totally decreased characterization and the whole Star Wars experience.

This isn't exactly a legitimate question. This is you're opinion, and all you're doing is looking for people to agree with you.

Star Wars rules.
