If you have the name or file name of it, do a search and see if there is a way to delete it.

Or go to a virus information web site and search for it there. You can get a free virus scan here: http://housecall.trendmicro.com/
It might be able to clean it.

It proably can't be deleted because it is in use or that it is not really considered a threat, or even that the operating system you run needs that file to run.
Try getting anti-virus softare that can run after you turn on your computer, but before windows xp (or whatever you use) starts up...

is it on quarantine now? run AVG see if it will delete it - if it's still there, last recourse would be to reformat your HD
