People who spend time hating other people for what ever reason really don't love them selves like they are supposed to. They are hiding behind whatever they are prejudiced against. We are all human. We all have the same body parts and red blood. Yes all cultures act differently but if they didn't...what would this world be like?? It all balances out. Do you agree??? Take care.

Many factors contribute to racism: fear; how you were raised; ignorance; bad experiences; hate; peers; history; equal opportunity; political correctness; double standards; etc. Many people are racist, even unknowingly, but will be friends with 1-2 people of a certain race. It's like the Pollock jokes that use to be popular in the 70's...why were the Polish considered dumb? It wasn't true or nice, yet we all laughed. Take the whole illegal, Mexican immigration thing...people feel as if their country is being invaded. We are a country of immigrants, yet, there seems to be no law enforcement regarding the proper way to enter the US or apply for citizenship. Why should we, in the US, have to "press 1" for English? This makes many people upset and "hate" what is going on. We should be upset with our government not Mexicans. Then there's always what's "P.C." Most people, except for Hollywood and Washington, don't want to be "P.C." It's not like people want to be rude, but they don't always want to have to worry if they're saying the "right" thing or not. There really is a lot more to racism than just hate. Bottom line...racism is wrong, but it will always be around because people are not perfect.

One word: stereotypes.
The entertainment media doesn't help either. It's like they have put each minority into its own box such as with Jewish people can be often found in the Holocaust box, African Americans would be in the slavery box and my favorite which is me is the Native American "Indian" that is often found in the 100 years ago box.
Now we all now that not every Jewish person was in the Holocaust, some were fortunate enough to escape and never experience such an atrocity. And not all African Americans are descendants of slaves, some are only second or third generation immigrants. As for the Native Americans, yes we're still around and we have evolved with the rest of the western world. In fact, some of us have the misfortune of losing our native languages.
So to Hollywood, look around you. Everything isn't always what it appears to be.

Many would think that its becuase ppl are jealous, or afraid of what is different or think they are far superior.. and i think they are all true.
BUt why someone is racist is because i think it is part of a basic human instinct. Human like every other creature are created to evolve into greater being. And in evolution, those which is inferior in many ways.. would be neglected and slowly they vanish from the evolution line. WHy ppl are racist.. is quite the same as why men prefer beautiful woman compare to the not so beautiful one and why women goes for stronger, more successful guys than the not to brilliant and successful ones. It is the same as many others who look differently towards the not so well off or homeless ppl and the ppl with physical defects. WHy would little children when they see those with physical defects sometimes stay away from these ppl even though they cant hurt them? It is an instinct in human being. Im sorry to say but in this world, skin colors are the same too.. in some society, some race lives a better life than some.. and its their lifestyle and attitude that has got to be blamed on this. Hence this somewhat stereotypes some races to be more superior than the other. And since part of evolution is ot be better, it has become human instinct that those who are more superior would stay away from those who are less.. its in everything in this world and not just races..
BUt today, racism is taken very seriously.. and i respect that fully as i myself am in the minority group.. and its good for us.. but i think its only for us to be blamed if others dont treat us the same way cos as a whole, we havent earn the right to be treated that way.. maybe one day.. when the whole community has become more superior.. then ppl shall look at them in a different way than now..
I believe that the racist card has been used long enough that those who uses it are the real racist ones.. I also believe that in today's world.. if really ppl do care, ppl should look more towards those who are being treated differently cos of their physical defects and cos of their background rather than just races.
**In response to old music, you are right.. but you also have to know that in the outside world, especially at those places where ppl look the same as me.. do not treat me any different and being racist against me. Racism happen based on where you are.. Like an earlier post by someone mentioned than he/she never experience racism until he/she came to a big city. Another thing to add is that.. even though one are from the same race.. some of us find ourselves more superior than others from a different nation.. For example.. many white americans do not think themselves as the same level as eastern europeans.. So it also matters a lot of where u are from.

Some out of fear, some due to ignorance, and some their life experiences influences them.
Example: My aunt grew up in a city, at that time the section was mostly white people, low crime (most maybe a drunk/disorderly type thing). Her neighborhood started changing. A lot of black people moved in, and (by coincidence) suddenly homes were broken into, people mugged on the street, vandalism of cars, etc. She heard a lot of them blaming the fact that welfare did not give them enough money, so they said that was why they committed crimes. She moved out of the neighborhood, went back a couple years later to see her old home, and the neighborhood looked like a war zone, with broken windows, stripped cars, burned-out buildings, etc. Those were her first impressions of black people, and it was hard for her to shake them, since there were hardly any in her new neighborhood, and none where she worked.

Ignorance. Close-mindedness. And this is for people of ANY race who is racist. They can't see the bigger picture: that we are all people. No matter the skin color, we all bleed the same blood: red. We all laugh, cry, get happy, angry, sad. They just refuse to be open-minded about something that people didn't even have a choice about before they were born.

I think a lot of it is ignorance. And also fear. Most people fear what they cannot understand. So, if someone doesn't understand what the other person is saying, they feel threatened. I have also asked myself that question a lot. I had not experienced racism until I moved to the state of Washington. Especially since it's a small town where everybody knows everybody.

Because people wont let go of history. Yes, it is good to know history, but don't hold a grudge because of things in the past.

Parents and the community. Hate is taught. Some become members of hate groups because they are loners and these groups are very engaging and accepting.
