I'm going absolutely crazy about this! I'm being induced tonight at 41 weeks. And I still don't have a baby name yet. I've looked through books and websites. I've asked for opinions. And everything I pick and really like my husband doesn't. I really want to use a traditional/old fashioned name that is still unique, in style, and cute. The names I came up with and he didn't like are Lucia, Isabelle, Sofia, and Madelyn. The only name he'll agree to is Lillian, but I just don't feel it's the right one. Please help!

No one will lock you up if you haven't decided on a name before you meet her. Hold your baby and see what feels right.

You really don't have to have a name chosen before you have the baby. I'm sure whatever you agree upon with be the right name. If you simply can't agree upon one, the ultimate choice belongs to you for giving birth, in my opinion. Maybe you could choose the first name and your husband could choose the middle name or vice versa. The child could go by either name. My kids have nick names and know what their real names are. They will answer to both. Hope that helps and good luck tonight with your delivery.

Lucia and Lillian are the only 2 I don't like. Sometimes after your baby is born you can put a name to the face...so don't worry yet. If you have no name after seeing her face and it's time to go home....worry. I like the name Mya. But I named my daughter Jessica...cause her dad picked it out. And I am glad I did cause this was his only child and he was murdered 6 weeks ago.

What about Cassandra? Olivia? Those were my two picks, but I had boys both times.

You want a name the baby can grow into. While she's young, you can use nicknames, but while "Elizabeth" is a mouthful for a little girl, a 50 year old Bambi just looks silly.

You will probably know her name the very minute you hold her in your arms.

I have always loved Emily. I love the nickname Em and I am a huge fan of Emily Dickenson the poet. Pick a name that can not be broken down to a derogatory taunt and has a really cool nickname when you shorten it. Because her friends will and her enemies will too.

I also loved.

Falen (Pronounced Faylen)
Siobbahn ( pronounced Shivonne)
Elizabeth
Alexandria
Angelina

Good Luck!

Maybe instead of Lillian, you could use Lily... I think that's beautiful. My daughter's name is Avery Elizabeth and everyone always tells us they love her name... And if we ever have another daughter she will be Natalie Rose. Also, have you ever thought of naming her after an important female in your lives? Maybe one of you have a mother or sister or aunt that you just love and want to name her after them? Or maybe an old family name? Just some suggestions, good luck and congratulations!
