Today's society... tough one?

OK... when is out soceity going to start making a change... too much sex and violence in the media and television. Crime never stops, girls are married and pregnant faster and faster. Depression in people is at an all time low, women and an increasing number of men feel less good about themselves. So I pose to you....
What are you and what should we as a nation do to stop or slow this process...
Put it this way, I would not want to be a kid growing up in the country.

We need to be more aware of the presence of evil through out society. The only effective way to combat evil is with good. The only true source of good is from the one true creator God. God's way is described in the Bible. There must be the correct balance of fair and just laws that are fairly and justly enforced, however there needs to also be certain individual freedoms. To achieve high moral standards within our society we must start with having a higher percentage of fully functional traditional families to give children a firm foundation, well adjusted fully functional parents as examples. To reach toward this goal we must promote a return to the understanding of and adherence to basic Biblical principles as described in the Ten Commandments of Exodus chapter 20. Parents have to first be trained so they can train their children. I don't think we need any more laws, just better enforcement of the current ones and more prayer in the homes to help properly train the children. Personal examples of faithful dedicated honorable God-loving parents will be the most effective way of training children and improving the moral fiber of our society.

Our society is successful precisely because it is secular and NOT dominated by religious zealots. Of course, there are consequences, such as those you mentioned. It is our failure as a society to address those consequences that remains problematic. On the other hand, if you wouldn't want to be a child in this country, why don't you take a good look at the lives children lead in Rwanda or any other country in Africa? It is the responsibility of parents to ensure that they make the right choices for their children until the children are mature enough to decide for themselves. If children in the US are choosing nasty programming, acting out violently, and/or being sexually irresponsible, it IS the parents' failure to act like PARENTS that is most at fault. Children in Africa do NOT have the choices that our spoiled, whiny brats here do: they don't have a choice but to walk through fields that have been planted with landmines because the only source of drinkable water is six miles on the other side of the field. They don't have a choice that they starve because the crops have failed yet again. They don't have a choice to not particpate in civil wars when gangs of soldiers load them into trucks at gunpoint. You want to talk about the problems children face? Go look at Africa, where the children face REAL PROBLEMS. The biggest problem American children have is that their parents have grown fat, lazy, and spineless.

A lot of it has to do with money. Movies only care about what will sell and don't care about giving kids bad examples. Crime sells and sex sells. Watching television and movies and seeing all the fake glorious stuff makes people feel not so good about themselves. Fake reality shows don't help much either. We have to stop watching these programs that promote things we don't happening in society.
