Coke Is It.
It's happening at the Hilton.
Mayby She's Born With It, Maybe It's Maybeline.
Just Do It.
Have It Your Way.

10 points if you identify what the "It" is in each slogan and tell me, if each slogan uses 'It" in different ways but "it" is undefined and always desirable- is "it" really a noun instead of a pronoun.

Coke Is It. "It" is the defining factor in coolness, a status symbol.

It's Happening At The Hilton. To an adult viewer, this could be sex, but from the context I'm guessing the good things in life -- after all, staying at the Hilton is itself a status symbol.

Maybe She's Born With It, Maybe It's Maybelline. "It" refers to beauty, both natural and enhanced by cosmetics.

Just Do It. Citius, altius, fortius. ("Faster, higher, stronger", the Olympic motto.) "It" is the peak of personal, physical achievement.

Have It Your Way. "It" is the best dining experience and choice food you can have, even if it is fast food.

Grammatically, "it" is always a pronoun because it's taking the place of a noun, a word that's a person, place, thing, or idea. You could argue that "it" is an ideal state, a (fill in noun) that helps the person who takes advantage of the advertisement to achieve an ideal appropriate to that person. Does this work for you?

Each consumer forms his/her perception of what the "it" is. Thus, the "it" has the potential to appeal to each and every consumer who perceives the advertisement because "it" becomes whatever the consumer desires. Accordingly, it is not necessarily a noun or a pronoun. The "it" can be a noun or pronoun or verb or (most likely in the mind of the consumer) a group of nouns, pronouns, verbs etc... The consumer does not view the "it" from a grammatical perspective; "it" becomes a picture in the mind or an emotion(s) or a combination.
