The press constantly reminds of its freedom of speech, but if an individual says what he/she believes they are presumed to be overstepping that freedom. Isn't is better to say what you feel instead of being a hypocrit and pretending to feel another way?

Yes, it is always better to say what you feel. But you have to remember that your freedom of speech, 1.) has limitations (you go into a crowded building and yell fire and not expect repercussions), and 2.) the freedom is not just yours.

Freedom of speech is something, that until relatively recently, was a freedom that was our alone in the world. A an American, the freedom of speech is not just a freedom and right, but a responsibility that must be handled with care. If you abuse this right, the consequences can be dire.

You're right in thinking that you can say what you want, but you need to exercise common sense in the timing and place in which it is done.

The limits I want can not be actually (and fairly) applied I want limits like honesty, respect, ...... but you can't set exact laws for those limits for example when some one says "Egypt is a terrible country" and because he said that some one sued him because "he is not telling the truth" then waht? it will depend on the judge, if the judge agree with the man then he free him other wise he will be jailed Therefore I believe freedom of speech is a must in order to achieve justs

It is one thing to say what you feel and be "chastised" by someone who disagrees with you (that is THEIR freedom, as well). It is quite another to be jailed or worse for having said it. No one ever guaranteed freedom from difference of opinion when you exercise your right to free speech.

Freedom of speech is being eroded by the US government and all of her followers; roll on the police state and enjoy what little freedom you have left.

Don't forget, it is unpatriotic and unamerican to disagree with Bush.

Ps:- it's the media that are allowing them to do it so so much for the bloody press, propoganda rags nothing more

Freedom of speech does not say have no respect for others. I am seeing all types of adjectives are used while criticising the President of US. I have mentioned about social values for answering one more question. One should also be tolerant to receive back comments.

Thanks to George W. Bush and his war on liberty (Patriot Act) The freedom to speech has been annihalated. So the next time your chatised for using your freedom of speech, just thank Uncle Sam.

Research Guatanomo Bay, Cuba.
You'll be amazed, because under our present fascist leadership, we're all looking at a one way ticket there.

Firstly, freedom of speech is a myth. If you say something it will be used against you if someone needs to. True freedom does not even exist as governments manipulate us!!

You may speak what you wish... but you have to deal with the consequences of speaking those ideas.

Freedom of speech does not mean everyone has to agree with you or like what you say - THEY have the freedom of speech to disagree or argue with you!

Are you trying to deny my freedom of speech by telling me I can't "chastise" some one if I disagree or am offended by what they say?!?!

Talk about hypocrisy!

You have the freedom to speak. You do not have the right to be heard, let alone listened to.
The media is only interested in free speech as it applies to them and they ilk, any other is irrelevant, bigamist, homophobic, religious zealot etc.
