Go to your neighbor and ask them why they are videotaping your kids, Ask them to stop or you will report them to the authorities for being suspected pedophile. Tell all the other neighbors about them, if they aren't sick they will stop. If they are make sure you make it known that you will not tolerate it. Next time he does that take out your camera and tape him videotaping your kids, this will serve as proof if you ever need it.

Unfortunately, the answer is that it probably is legal. A few states have passed video-privacy laws in recent years after it was discovered that there were no laws against placing hidden cameras in dressing rooms, toilets or tanning booths, but if your neighbors and children can be seen from a public sidewalk, roadway, etc., it's doubtful that any of those laws protect them.

Go to the police station or sheriff's office that has jurisdiction over you neighborhood and discuss your concerns with a dectective, officer or deputy. They may be willing to go out and speak to the neighbor to let him/her know that it's making neighbors uncomfortable -- and they might be able to let you know if this person is someone you need to be wary of or just a bitter little busybody with nothing better to do.

Be it legal or not I would contact some kind of law enforcement and have a check done on this person. you never know there maybe some pior charges against this person in the past that your not aware of. If anything at least the cops will be aware of this persons actions.

P.S. I got a neighbor somewhat like that but she is always looking throught binoculars at people homes. I left a big sign out on my lawn pointed their direction saying to refain from spying into my domain and go get some professional help.

If I were you, I'd keep a "Close-Eye" on him, get out your recorder, and start filming him, then show the tape to the cops, because, I'll just bet he stops, once , he sees you with a recorder, and just like the other person's answer he could very well be a "Chester" , and what I heard they do is they'll film the "whereabouts" of the child on film, then put it on there "Child-Porn" sites, and tell them, the "General-area", and then, its up too the "Chesters" to find out how to take them, this is more common, than any of us think, so if I were you, I wouldn't allow this guy to continue, getting away with this, I'd break out a camera and start taking photo's of him,or your "Camcorder" and show it to the police, and ask them also how many "Registered-Sex-Offenders" are in your neighborhood, they have too give you, that information.......I would make sure you get a photo of the guy with the camera in his face, for the cops, however, because, he could very well, be in "Violation" of his probation, for all you know......Be Careful, but wise, about your decision's regarding this man!!!

It is legal if he is doing it from his property for sure. However I think I would report him to the authorities. Also go online and see if he has a history of sexual crimes. You can never bee too safe!

Whether it is legal or not I would be concerned about it - especially where children are involved - and I would report it.
Definitely.

my husband was a private investigator, it is legal to videotape anything that is in public, but it is not legal to record their voice along with the video.
