I am 29 and never had the chicken pox. Which, since I work with children, is not so good because these parents send their kids in-running noses and everything.
I hope I don't get it now, either.

I'm fifteen, and I have never had the chicken pox. Meanwhile, my brother is twelve and has also never had them. My mother made sure early on that we were vaccinated against it. Thank goodness, because chicken pox is serious.
No, really, getting chicken pox is dangerous and serious. Though the childhood disease may seem innocent and might be taken as a right of passage, it should be prevented better.
Once you get chicken pox, you are at risk for getting a disease called "Shingles". This disease is similar to chicken pox, only much more serious. Normally occuring in people over 40 (though it happened to my friend at 14), Shingles is an itchy rash that quickly covers the body. It causes nausea, severe pain, and is much worse than chicken pox. Some cases of Shingles can be severe enough to send people to the hospital, and the disease can last up to three months (and in some cases, years). There have also been reports of suicide amongst people with Shingles because of the pain.
I know that my friend was out of school for about ten days because of it, and my step-daddy got it a couple years ago. He was bed-ridden for a week or so, and wasn't well for about three months. It was very serious, and if I had touched him, I could have gotten chicken pox. Luckily, I was vaccinated as a baby (against my doctor's orders, funny enough).
So, basically, beware of chicken pox, everyone, and make sure that all the babies out there are vaccinated before they can get this.
FYI, Shingles is rare, but DOES happen. Stay away from people with Chicken pox in order to limit the risks of getting Shingles.
Here's to hoping that none of you get it!

Oh yeah, its healthier for little kids to get it right away and build the immunity. So when I was 3 and my older sister got it, my Mom had us sleep in the same bed, so I'd get it too and get it over with. lol Thanks Mom! :P
