I don't have the iud with hormones. My pap test is normal and the doctor says the iud string is right where it's supposed to be. I had it for 2 years with out a problem. Now all of a sudden I have cramping and spotting between periods.
I've heard that the MAIN REASON one iud has hormones is to curb bleeding that otherwise happens with iuds. I have a clean bill of health. Is this abnormal spotting one of the side affects? Even after 2 years of everything being normal?

OMG, that is exactly what is happening to me, will be three years in December, and about 3 months ago I started having the same problem.

I checked out fine too, and she seems to think its uterine fibroids and says it should clear up with a few months of BC pills. Which is what Im trying right now. Only been one week so far tho, and Im still spotting and cramping. I have the copper too as I dont like the whole hormone thing. Would love to compare notes tho if you find out anything. Dont really get the chance to compare notes with anyone.
