I think you better get the advice of a professional. Any chemical you add to the fountain such as chlorine may get rid of algae but will also get rid of lots of animals such as birds which often come to drink the water.

You can use chlorine or each night put bleach in it and by morning any algae, bacteria or other fungi will be gone. But dont put too much or your yard will smell like bleach! Just put a little every couple nights. That is if you dont want to keep chlorine in it.

ponds can get kind of complicated, you would do best to research pond care if you are going to tackle it yourself or at least go to your local nursery and talk to them about it. or just hire a pro and let them mess with it
if you decide to mess with it yourself, there are products to keep the algae growth down and you will also need to get a ph kit
