Most developing countries are run by dictators drawn from ruling families who tend to own the nationalized companies there.

Western based corporations are usually publiclly traded adn owned by thousands of people and their proxies. They tend to have more restrictions on monopolistic behavior, not so in pooreer countries.

The inherent corruption and lack of competition is a large part of what keep these countries poor.
