That's a complicated question to answer. You really have to watch it being used. Basically, you make sure the base is secure, that the sling is securely under the person and hooked to the lift securely, pump the handle until the person clears the bed or chair and then move them. Watch their head, a whack on the lift really hurts! When your done it makes a fun trapeze! (JUST KIDDING!!)
