no that means you are an individual...you don't have to "dress" any way but the way you want to...if anyone gives you crap over it, tell them to shove it.

No. It means you've learned to think for yourself and not follow the crowd. It's easy to go out and buy a gold chain and a big white t-shirt like everyone else. It takes a strong independent person to break from the crowd and declare "This is what I like". Without black people who didn't think for themselves and break the mold, we wouldn't have had Living Colour, Fishbone, Lenny Kravitz, etc. hell, a black man (Chuck Berry) pretty much invented rock and roll so all you're doing is going back to your roots. And as far as dressing preppy, I have two words: Kanye West. Keep rockin' and don't bother with what they say.

I am black, my boyfriend is white, i listen to rock music but i also like RnB and soul. That doesn't mean i am trying to be white. I am just being me.

Dress codes don't have a race but dress codes have group associations. White guys that wear baggy pants and bling out don't mean they are trying to be black, they just associate rap music and the rap culture. Yeah, rap was started by a black person but rap is not just for black ppl. Same as rock.

You race traitor you. Don't you know how we are supposed to dress acr and eat and the type of music we must listen to. For goodness sake get to the store and buy some baggy clothes and some snoop dog cds.

But to answer your question. It probably means you like to dress preppy and listen to rock music. Nothing more nothing less.

No! you have your own style and your own creativity. That doesnt make you any more of less than what you are.

I kind of have the same situation because I am mixed with black and white and some people say I am more white than black, while others say I act more black.

I dont change the way I am, its just the way people around you view you. Dont worry about what they have to say. Be comfortable in YOUR OWN skin!

Only if you start bleaching your skin and getting caucasian hair transplants. Don't let people tell you that because you're black you have to dress, sound, or act a certain way. What are you suppose to be doing? Having babies and applying to welfare?!!!! Sista, show 'em how black grrrllllsss ROCK!!!!

You should be proud and comfortable with your colour, history and heritage. And I'm sure you are.
By wearing "preppy" clothes or liking rock instead of rap, is who you are. It defines you as an individual.
Don't worry about it and do what feels natural.

No that means you like to dress preppy and you like rock music.

It annoys me when people label someone who's just expressing themselves as trying to be this or that. You're just being you.

no, people may say that but they are just buying into the stereotype that all black people dress a certain way and listen to rap music. Do what feels right to you.

Who has been telling you that how you dress or what you listen to means that you are trying to be "white"?!? No one race or culture in the U.S. ownes a particular fashion or musical trend. You can make your own decisions. Wear what you want; listen to what you like. Anyone gives you crap, ignore them. Anyone gets in your face and gives you crap, tell them to kiss your @ss. Just be yourself.
