Besides the saltines and ginger ale (which is supposed to be "flat"...no carbonation, leave it open for awhile... by the way), try to have many small meals. Don't let your stomach get empty. You should be trying to put something in your stomach about every 2 hours.

Take the crackers and flat pop with you to bed too. If you wake during the middle of the night, eat a couple of saltines and a couple of drinks of the flat pop. Wait a couple of minutes before laying back down too so that it goes into your stomach.

Before getting up in the morning, do the saltines and pop again. Wait for it to get down and then get up and do whatever you need to do. For breakfast, fix some toast and add a little jelly to it (no butter..nothing greasy). Eat one or two, whatever you feel you can get down.

In 2 hours or a little less have a little something else. What my doc told me was, if I could think of a food and it didn't make me feel nauseated, then it should be ok to eat it. If you crave something, it's ok to eat it too. Just make sure to eat smaller amounts and more frequently.

There is the peppermint thing too that can really help upset tummy's...even those that are pregnant. Brach's sells these peppermint hard candies called Starlight mints (they have red and white stripes on them) or you can get "real" peppermint sticks in some places too. Peppermint "settles" the stomach so sucking on a hard peppermint in between eating may help out too!

It should go away after your first trimester, but there are some that have it the whole pregnancy..very rare though.

If it gets too bad or you go days where you can't get anything down, make sure to give your doc a call. There are things he can give you to help you out, but there is no need to take it if it's mild and you can get some things down. Never be afraid to give your doc or nurse a call and ask questions. That is what they are there for and what you pay them for! :-)
Good luck!

Onions are a natural antiemtic. Try boiling some onion slices in water and then add a little sugar to the water and drink it. That should help some. Another trick is to have some room temperature sprite and saltine crackers right beside your bed and take a sip and eat a few crackers before you ever even lift your head off of your pillow in the mornings.

You are doing the best thing for your self already. Eat a diet high in protien and complex carbohydrates, both of which fight nausea. General good nutrition may help too, Drink plenty of fluids cause vomiting can cause you to dehydrate or faint. Both of which i have experienced with my previous pregnancy. Also try to figure out if there is something that your pregnancy cant tolerate at this point. I couldnt eat anything with red or marinara sauce on it with my first pregnancy cause i would end up throwing it all back up. Hard thing to stay away from foods that you love but in the end it pays off because you dong get sick and the baby will still get food. The book what to expect while expecting states to also try to eat a little when your not hungry to help with extra stoumache acids, and try to eat more foods higher in water like fruit or vegtables

Oh honey I am so sorry you aren't feeling well I know this is a miserable feeling but it will get better even though that may not make you feel any better right now. When I had my boys I felt worse in the evenings than mornings but found that eating small amounts of food several times a day and being careful not to eat too much at one time seemed to help. I think being aware of what is triggering your nausea is the key. Are there smells that make it worse? Try to get plenty of rest when you are exhausted morning sickness is much worse. Good Luck and congratulations on you upcoming precious addition.

I had morning sickness well into my fourth month, and it turned out to be my prenatal viatamins making things worse. My midwife told me to take a B-Complex, and I felt loads better. If that doesn't help try to make sure you don't drink anything until 15 minutes after you eat so that you can get full off of food instead of liquid. Try a little bit of peppermint tea to ease your nausia, let the tea sit in the water for a long time and don't sweeten it. Try to avoid fatty foods and drinks like whole milk, they can make the problem worse.

I know exactly how you feel. I am going thru it right now.
But I am sucking on a peppermint candy which seems to be helping. This morning I ate some plain toast, which helped. Watermelon has been helping too, which was a surprise. My mom told me to snack on watermelon and grapes and it has been keeping the nausea at bay in the afternoons.
The ginger ale is great too.
GOOD LUCK AND CONGRATS!!!

Some people have more than just morning sickness, all the hormones in your system can make you nausious. It would be a good idea to talk to your doctor she/he should have some advice on what might help. Trying to get enough sleep and eating well should help some but that can be hard to do when you aren't feeling well. Eventually your body will get use to the new hormone levels and you should feel better but for now just try whatever you can.

try salt free crackers and drink plain hot tea just sipping a little at a time. The ginger ale will cause some people to have indigestion.
Also try not to eat anything after 7pm.

When I was pregnant I was sick like that for almost 2 months, I only felt better first thing in the morning (I used to make fruit shakes - (Orange juice, fresh strawberries and bananas with ice and blend - you can even throw it in the freezer for later) another thing was I chewed Chicklettes gum, its the only one that doesnt have bad chemicals added to it, just the sugar. It helped, but on a good note it will go away :-)
Good Luck

Go get a book called " what to expect when you are expecting". It's the pregnancy bible and will help with all these questions. Your question as well as many others that you would not expect is in there. It's excellent in describing all of these little things that worry moms and help distinguish when something is "normal" or not.
Good Luck!
