There is this place that says that I owe them some money and I have never done business with these people. I wrote them a letter stating that I had never done business with them and now they are trying to garnish my wages and I don't know what to do. Can someone please help me?

Get a lawyer. There's a good reason why we have professionals to help us deal with this stuff... otherwise, you will be in over your head.

Tell the company to provide you with proof that you did indeed do business with them. They should at least have your signature on a contract or invoice. This may be a case of identity theft in which case turn it over to the police. If the company is pulling a scam, call the fraud or bunco squad with your local PD and file a report. The D.A. then takes over for you. If the PD says it's a civil matter, call BBB and file a complaint with them. Call Consumer affairs with your local city government and register a complaint and get info. Call business licensing department with your local city. Call all three credit bureaus and put a notice on this particular company record with them, that it is under investigation so that your credit is not harmed. Let the company know you are contacting the FTC (Federal Trade Commission) regarding their unethical practices. None of this will cost you money, only time. Also, I'm not sure, but I don't believe a business can garner wages. That takes Uncle Sam. So it sounds as if they are trying to scam you. After that, you need a lawyer and sue for damages.

It sounds like a form of identity theft. First, you need to establish that you were never a customer/client of this company. To do that, you will need to find out the dates of service or sales. Then verify your location, actions, etc for that time period. Contact the legal aid association in your area. If it is not listed under that name, contact the bar association and ask them who provides "pro bono" assistance in your area for this type of problem. Get some legal assistance soon.

Ask them for proof that you owe them money such as a bill of sale for something that you bought.

You could owe money to someone else and this new 'place' has purchased your debt.

Then you are probably wrong...they have to go to court to do this and you left it hanging. You are holding back something from us.
