The femminst movement tried to get women to be like men- that did not work. Now it's trying to get men to be like women. Getting in touch with femmine side???, spa treatment, cell phone freaks while driving, diaper changing table in the mens room, just to name a few. Why are so many of our young men dont know how to drive a 5 speed transmission, whatever happen to taking a junk car and re- building it from scatch? Who wants to drive an automatic minivan or suv and worry about cup holders, talking on cell phones. The joys of driving a stick shift, who needs a car stereo when there is the sweet sound of an engine in a sports car. Like the commerical says "regain your manhood"...drive a stick shift- dont be a softy

I believe there is a balance. I have two boys and I've changed their diapers many of times without shame. I feel learning to drive a stick shift has nothing at all to being soft. I can drive one without a problem and if my sons desire to learn- yea, I'll teach them. I'm secure in my manhood and I'm not a big hunter or fisherman. I do go sometimes. I love sports but alot of gay men like sports. I'm thankful to be straight and plan on letting my boys choose what they like to do and coach them in being the best men they can be. I WILL teach them to be gentlemen , but not a pushover.

Do you really think that men learning to drive a 5 speed transmission is that important? And who's to say a man can't do that, AND enjoy spa treatments? However, I think what happened was that "getting in touch with your feminine side" was supposed to be more about emotional improvement and less about improving physical appearances and caring about shallow and frou frou stuff like spa treatments. Gloria Steinem said "But the problem is that when I go around and speak on campuses, I still don't get young men standing up and saying, 'How can I combine career and family?' - and I what men are supposed to take from the whole feminization thing, is that if women are now doing things that men formerly did by themselves (supporting a family financially) then it is time for men to take over some of the duties that women formerly did by themselves (taking care of children, housework, etc). Also, men should learn to express themselves and communicate better, as women do. men keep everything bottled up inside instead of talking about it, and women reflect with the help of their friends. You may not realize it, but reflecting on problems with the help of friends can contribute enormously to personal growth and discovery.

And I disagree with you, WOMEN ARE MORE LIKE MEN now. We are continuing to grow in number in the workforce, and we cheat in relationships as much as men. Unfortunately, in trying to adopt characteristics of the opposite sex, it is EASIER to adopt the bad characteristics of the opposite sex, like being prissy, or being unfaithful.

Single fathers need those changing tables, I suppose. And last time I checked I went to school with a few of those guys who ran around doing stuff to cars and trucks and driving a manual. (By the way, I know women who can drive a manual. I know one who lives in the city.) I know guys who must have stereos in their car or they LOSE THEIR MINDS. That seems to be /mainly/ a guy thing.

Out of curiosity, what commercial are you talking about? I haven't seen it. And I watch a good bit of TV.
