Why do people care so much about Mel Gibson making a mistake? Doesn't everyone make mistakes?

Because he's Catholic...I am Catholic and for some reason I get stereotyped all the time. People ask me if I worship statues???? What the f**K?? (yes, Catholics curse) Fellow Catholics know it's not true and many of the other things say are not true. Priests molesting children?? How often does that happen?? When it does, it's all over the media!! How often do protestant pastors do the same and cheat on wives and other bad things, but NOOOO they get no news media becasue the are not CATHOLIC!! I don't know if you know exactly what happened, but he just didn't drink and drive, he made several anti-semitic statments as well as other slandorous statments. It is a big thingbecause he is a public icon and because of that he should be constantly aware of what he says or does. those big stars do not live normal lives, that is the price they must pay for their fame and fortune. Is it a big deal if some one like you or me did what he did, only to us. But I guarantee Mel Gibson is goingto be alright and Malibu will stay the same. Cheers.

This is not a mistake. It has long been contended that Mel Gibson is anti-Semetic, and he finally showed the world that he is. His father is a known anti-Semite, and is a Holocause denier. Instead of saying that he does not aspouse to his father's beliefs, he ignored questions about his dad's anti-Semetism by simply saying that the man is wise, and does not lie to him (hence he believes that his dad is right; hence Mel has been conditioned by his dad to be anti-semetic).

I don't care what he said, however, I think it's an unfortunate fact in todays world that one can go spouting off at the mouth the way he did, but if some Jew were to take exception and twist him into a pretzel he'd cry like a b@#ch and hide behind the courts. I guess media press is the one responsible for all the big deal they made of a statement Gibson did. He's a good actor and director and they just want to mess him up. I don't think it is of a big deal.
