I once read that the Americans will not have two women working together in a nuclear bunker with their fingers on the triggers.

The reason??? If they're menstral cycles begin at the same time there was a worry over heightened tensions with PMT. As two people are needed to launch a missile the Yanks didn't want two PMT mad women at the controls wanting to vent their frustrations!!!!!

Absolutely True statement about our American cousins....you couldn't make it up!

Unless there are a lot more women in power in the other government agencies such as NSC, CIA, Pentagon etc then women might perhaps be better than men in solving conflicts. Having a woman President or Prime Minister makes no difference.

More women have been voted in as heads of state in the past few years. It will take a long time to change the balance of power. I'd love to see the result. I agree with your theory as a theory, but who knows how it would work out.
There's a chance that a woman who was that advanced in politics might "think like a guy" anyway.

Replace Tony with Margaret Beckett and Bush with Condi. Its within the realms of possibility, we may yet find out!

However if such a thing did happen, how much authority would both leaders have over a supporting structure which was largely male?

I'd hope that they'd slowly replace all the male bureaucrats with female. Pass new laws, have men castrated; of course, saving samples of their sperm for our reproductive purposes. Maybe that might cure humanity of war?

B*ll*cks!!!!!!!!!! I think you'll find that if you pull your head out from your femenist *rse most wars and conflicts are fouhgt over things like religion, money and oil etc! Maybe if people could put aside these stupid arguements over which gender is 'better' then society may not be in the sh*t state that its in! Your question should be why can't politicians (male or female) actually make a positive contribution to the world rather than lining their own pockets?

Wars would still happen but they'd be less effective and more brutal. Based on psychological work on the behavior of women. More decisions would be made based on emotions than logic. Less verbal agreements would be honored by women leaders than male ones, theoretically leading to worse relations. Retaliations would be swift and merciless compared to the actions of men. Relations with other world leaders would be more colored by Sexism, racism and agism than those made by men. Subjectively conflicts would be resolved more quickly as pride would be less of a factor in enforcing bad decisions.

No. The only way to end war and conflict is for society as a whole to change its outlook. Male or female there are too many money-hungry, power-hungry people in politics. None of which care about the average citizen.

You saying women never have conflicts with each other (let alone with men)? Ever work in an office? LOL

Things would be exactly the same in terms of wars, etc...Politics is politics, regardless of who's running things...

There will always be wars and conflicts.

Empirically, the answer is now. Look at the last 30 years, when women increased their presence in elected offices dramatically. Yet we've had more wars not less: Grenada, Panama, Kuwait, Kosovo, Somalia (maybe), Afganistan and Iraq.

Sincerely doubt it, did you ever hear of the Amazons? Cleopatra was a very good strategist when she went to war with Octavius Ceasar, personally I think too many women are too catty to really be objective in making some of the necessary decisions when it comes to defending our country. (And I am a woman!)
