We have 2 computers that are networked. Using comcast internet service. My younger son shares a computer w/me, the older one has his own. While I was looking at email pictures, I clicked the forward button and was surprised to find all of the other pictures that were sent to me in the past could be accessed with a click of this button - then I found these naked women doing all sorts of things w/naked men. My first thought is that it must be the son that shares the computer, but is it possible that it is the other son because we are networked? And if I send a picture, is it possible the porn pictures will be sent along with my gardening pictures? If I delete the porn by putting it in the on screen trash can, are they gone forever, or is there another step in the process?

Ok, I just tried to empty the trash can and couldn't. I thought that I was deleting when I checked boxed, but ended up moving them to a picture file that I can't find so that I can't delete - please help!!! Also, I wasn't going to confront them, just want to know who is doing what. Thanks for everyone's help so far

i hate to say this, but i would tend to say it is the younger son who shares the pc with you, unless your other child is quite good with computers and manually stored these images on your machine.

if you are e-mailing your gardening pictures, you will physically attach these photo's to your e-mail, so no the pornographic pictures will not be attached also.

when you put anything into the recycle bin (trash can) depending on your setting they may or may not be deleted to make sure they are deleted, simply highlight the files you want to delete, hold the 'SHIFT' key and select delete, a message will then appear saying that the files are going to be deleted NOT sent to the recycle bin.

hint, things that are sent to the recycle bin, can be recycled (restored back into full use)

upon reading notes from above people, someone suggested that clearing the history will delete the typed URL's in the address bar, this is not true

to remove anything from the address bar please do the following but follow carefully, as deleting incorrect things may cause damage

goto Start -> RUN and type regedit into the box that appears

navigate your way to here

HKEY_CURRENT_USER -> SOFTWARE -> MICROSOFT -> INTERNET EXPLORER -> TYPED URL's

inside here you will have URL numbers, delete ALL EXCEPT DEFAULT

this will remove any http address that have been manually entered into the address bar

I'm going to assume that the older son is smart enough to clear history, cache, cookies, and cover up his tracks. The younger son may not.

Before you go and punish anyone, do some research. You only have circumstancial evidence.

If the computers are networked via a switch / router / firewall, check the log files. That should tell you when & where these files were accessed from.

It looks like it's your younger son, because not only would your older have to have remote assist or PC Anywhere set up in order to do that, it would be slow and he'd be extremely likely to get caught. Unless you're in the habit of sending random pictures to your email contact list, the porn can't work its way into your emails. And finally, after the pics are in your recycle bin, right-click it and choose "empty." There, good as new. Go easy on the kid, he probably realizes that you saw the pictures and he's mortified already.

in this case, the pictures are on your computer, that means u got these pictures on your computer when someone was working on your computer, so there is no question of the other computer, unless the drives on the two computers are shared too and your older son stashed these pictures on your computer but he cannot stash them in your email . sharing internet only doesnot gets u pictures off from the other computer.
yes u can delete the pictures and move them to trash but do not forget to empty the trash as they can be recovered from there if it not emptied.

The pictures likely were sent directly to your computer by your younger son. I would research some good parental controls to install on both computers and go ahead and delete the pictures.

Technically i would say your younger son, but practically I would say both sons. I don't know the ages and I am guessing they are teens, but boys will be boys, i know, I was and still am one at 43 even though I don't porn surf. The pics may be stored in your trash can or temp. internet files. It's up to you, but I would be tempted not to say a word. It will drive the hobby further underground. Now you can monitor what the kids are looking at without them knowing. If it gets to be anything weird you can address the problem.

it's not the networked computer unless they actually sent it to you through e mail and you opened it...

after you put something in the trash can... you have to right click the can and pick empty recycle bin to clear the images permanently

to clear the sites from your history do this... in your internet browser, click Tools (at the top) >> then Internet Options... >> then clear history at the bottom... this will clear all porn addresses from your address bar.

Your younger son is viewing things he shouldn't be. Keep his butt off the computer for a week or so, that'll change his outlook.

All I do know for sure is that you need to have a serious talk with your sone and get a filter put on those computers.
