I have bright red hair, I'm incredibly pale and freckled, and have blue eyes. I'm also 5'9" and 140 pounds. I'm not sure if that helps, but I certainly need some help. I've been trying for years to find makeup that doesn't make me look whorish, and with picture day coming up, I'm nervous. Even brown mascara looks bad on me, so I have to stick to clear mascara, but nobody can see my eyes because of it. When I try to use liner, I just can't. It always looks to dark, and it smudges. So, please, if there are any redheads out there that know how to put on makeup so that I won't look like a freak, please help me out.

*what colors for the eyes
*lip color
*any other tips?

I have very curly and fuzzy hair, also, hum... I wonder if I can put up a picture, well, I'll try.

Here goes:

Here's me when I tried really hard to put on some makeup. Still, though, my skin looked very, very yellow from it.

Red hair? Freckles? I bet you are adorable! Stop by a makeup counter and let someone try makeup shades on you so you can get things that work specifically for your skin tones. Not all redheads are the same. (nor are blondes, brunettes, etc.)

You probably would work well with am Ivory shade of makeup or powder to enhance your beautiful fairness. As for blush I suspect a pale peach tone would work without overpowering you. If using eye shadow usually greens work well with red hair, but stick to a soft pale shade and buff it mostly off. Skip the eye liner if feeling uncomfortable applying it. You should be able to use brown mascara. If visiting a makeup counter and they use a disposible mascara wand, take it home with you and wash it thoroughly. After applying mascara, lightly brush through with the clean wand to remove any clumps and seperate the lashes. As for lip color I'd probably try a peach tone lip gloss to give you a soft sun-kissed look.

To get the best look with makeup use it lightly to enhance not hide your assets. Buy a couple of good brushes and remember to buff or brush away excess makeup for a soft natural look.

Play up your fair skin. My daughter is very pale and avoids the sun. People are always complimenting her on her beautiful soft pale complexion. If you visit the Cover Girl site and other similar make up sites they usually have some guideline you can follow. Ask for samples wherever you go so you can try things before buying. Check out E.L.F. cosmestics online. Everything is $1!!!

Have fun experimenting but let the beautful natural look of yourself show through!

Stay beautiful!!

Well, if you want to let the freckles show (I'd recommend this) you aren't going to be able to pull off a really "made up" look. Lindsay Lohan is also very freckled, and you will notice when you see the freckles, she has on less makeup overall. When she's wearing a lot of eye makeup, no freckles. Up close, she probably looks really overdone. Congratulations, nature gave you a really unique natural look, bright blue eyes, and a hair color I have to buy!

If I were you, I would concentrate on "enhancing" rather than "making up." Try some brow powder (NYC actually makes a pretty good one, try the "blonde" color), it's less harsh than pencil, to define your brows and better frame your face. And stick with the brown mascara. Try a light, shimmery nude shadow, Revlon Illuminance Cream Shadows in Not Just Nudes are great, try the second one from the left on your lids. I wouldn't use blush, but try some lip stain. Vincent Longo's Lip & Cheek Gel Stain in Cupid's Breath looks great on me, it's a sheer, slightly warm red.

Hope this helps!

the key: GO NATURAL!!!!

EYES: tans, nudes, golds, blues and browns are good.(Go light on the mascara! Like you said, clear is good. very natural.)

LIPS: Soft pink gloss or a light berry color

FACE: Covergirl's matte mouse foundation. Light and fluffy. feels so light. Use a sponge and blott it on evenly and then add a little blush. Freckles are cute (Im pale and I have freakles) and it is cute to show them, and if youwnt to, some light powder and blush is perfect.

EXTRA TIPS: If your eyes are small and want to make them larger and have more of an open eyed feel. Get whit eyeliner and put it on the bottom. You will have a fresh open eyed look.

You sound very pretty. Good luck. Hope these tips helped. Have fun at your picture day. Im sure you wont have a problem. Redheds are georgus no matter what.

I'm a fair complected redhead as well, and I worked for Clinique for years. A light sweep of a warm brown shadow across your lids will make your eyes really stand out. Use a darker brown shadow applied with a small brush as eyeliner, and try an eyelash curler to give your eyes a "lift". Regardless of what anyone says, you can wear practically any color, as long as you apply it carefully and use it in moderation. You will never go wrong with a gentle sweep of a peachy-pink blush (Nars "Orgasm" was a dream come true for me) and warm tint on your lips. Clinique Almost Lipstick in "Barely Blush" is a hit everytime. To intensify your look for evening, use Clinique's "Barely Blush" lip liner to really define your lips, and darken your liner at the outside corners of your eyes. This more "dramatic" effect would be good for your picture day too. Good luck and have fun experimenting!

Green or purple eye shadow...it wont clash with your red hair.
Pale pink lip color--not red!
As for mascara...just go with black. Or, ALmay makes colored mascaras now...green, blue, purple, and plain old black or brown. And just stay away from eyeliner. I hate the stuff and never use it. I just use dark mascara on my lower lashes.
Experiment! Until you find something you like. Or, go to a makeup counter, maybe at Macy's. The experts can tell you what will look good on you!

Well...NOW that I've seen your photos...you look fine! Sheesh! If you do any more than that, it will look unnatural! Keep doin what you're doin!

your eyes will do great with shadows in lt.browns/taupes-neutral colors. Use taupe for lining as well. If you want to make your eyes stand out, line the upper lids with a THIN layer of dark brown and line the bottom lid 3/4 of the way.

Cheeks & Lips look great w/ soft corals, and pinks. Mute the pink on the lips a little with some brown liner.

My daughter has got strawberry blonde hair, and she looks like she as no eye lashes or brows, they are so fair, her skin is very pale, and she has freckles.

She is in allot of shows with her dancing, and she also goes to allot of school discos.

The colours I put on my daughter are as follows:-

EYES :- glitter eyeshadow, ( this catches the light ), pale green, (makes her eyes stand out). A little brown mascara on the tips of her eye-lashes not all over them, this just accentuates rather than impacts.

LIPS :- I put her peachy colours on her lips, or just clear gloss.

CHEEKS:- Again peachy colours.

You should stay away from pinks or browns, as these make you look paler, Red lips and Mascara on tips of eyelashes, looks absolutely fabulous on red heads.

So go get em you flame haired beauty !!!!!!

ok best thing to do is to not worry so much. first thing, if your worried about you'r red hair been the reasone for not being able to wear make up, no. when it comes to make up, focus more on your face first then worry about the hair. if you have a pale face with freckles, then try some light conseler. if not, then blush (light pink or brown) to make your cheeks look more healthy. for your eyes, wear colours that are the opposite colour of your eyes (and if you don't know what those colours are, they are brown, breen, pink... just don't use blue) and don;t wear brown maskara, wear black. it will also help to make your eyes pop. when it comes to eye liner, if it smudges, then wet a q-tip and just wipe away the smudge. with lip colours, try ligh colours like brown, pink, gold... things like that. the way these make up colours will also work with you hair is because they also work with the colour red. for picture day try black maskara, no liner, brown eye shadow, light pink blush, and pink lip stick or pink lip gloss.

You should try to keep your colors nuetral and natural looking. There are liners, lipcolors, shadows, and blush out there that are not shocking you have to look for them. Do not use any colors with red undertones. Find a face powder to match your skin tone. Then work your way through accent colors. Test the colors on the underside of your forearm this way you will see what the color will look like on your skin tone. I cannot recommend the colors as you are the one who will choose what you like and what looks good on you. You can do it....Good Luck.
