Hopefully with Malkin coming over from Russia, their first round pick from 2004 to go along with Crosby and Jordan Staal, their first round pick from this year and goaltender Marc Andre Fleury gaining more experience, I think they are definately on the rise. Colby Armstrong surprised some people last year also, they have alot of young talent, and I think they got Mark Recchi back too. I'm not sure if they will make the playoffs this coming year but they just might surprise some people and do so. The first concern for fans is that they are still in Pittsburgh after this season.

I think they have a 50% probability of making the playoffs. They are maybe two good players away from a "definite" playoff contender. I think Fleury is what will make or break the season. Crosby will have to face the typical "sophomore jinx" that most young stars go through. Like I say, it's half and half in my opinion. As a Flyers fan, I hope the Pens don't move. I've enjoyed the rivalry for 32 years and would not like it if they move to another city.

Well, the good news is, there's a chance of Malkin coming over, provided his agent and the Pens can get him out of the remaining two years on his contract with his Russian team.

Looks like Shero is comfortable in his role so far as the new GM. We'll have to wait and see what happens. Look what happened last season - a great team on paper that fell apart on the ice for most of the season. I think they'll be Cup contenders in a few years.

Oh, and I'm really hoping the new arena comes through. Pittsburgh deserves to keep its' hockey team.

They are the team of the future. In a few years, they'll be a contender since they've got young and talented players. I really thought they're gonna make the playoffs last season. Their chances of making the playoffs this year is really good. Hope they get Malkin for next season.

Not sure about making the playoffs this year. Shouldn't be too long though. Got a great minor league team in Wilkes-Barrie/Scranton, the baby Pens. Also Malkin should be coming over this year to add to the talent already there. It is a great young team.

The Penguins organizaiton appears to be headed in the same direction that the Nordiques/Avalanche franchise went in the late 80's early 90's. Several disappointing teams followed by high 1st round picks equalled a lot of long term success.
Alas, unless they get a new arena, I fear that we will be calling them the Kansas City Penguins before very long....

I think they've had a great deal of turmoil over the past few seasons. I think if all this stuff settles down, they'll be very good this year. With Malkin coming in, they'll probably be good next year. The East is going to be strong though.....I'll give them a 75% chance of the playoffs.

Alot of it depends on if they can get Malkin from Russia. However i do not think they are a playoff caliber team yet but after next season watch out. Obviously i think they will be way more successful then last season with shouldnt be to hard.

They are building in the right direction, but without a new arena deal for the new ownership group, it may not matter. I hate to see teams move and hope they can work it out to stay. Pittsburgh fans deserve to keep the team that Marion built! Good Luck in keeping them put!
