Ignorant people?

why do people call other people ignorant cause of there views. It is starting to @!$$ me off to tell you the truth. Please answer truthfully.

because they think that they are right, and all other people are ignorant because they are too stupid to see that they are wrong. it's very sad that no one can be accepted for their views anymore. i know i have different views than others, but i accept that and allow them to express their feelings, even though sometimes i don't get the same respect.

Reasons:
1. Some people really are ignorant and their views send chills up most spines. Then you just need to point it out, in the vain hope that they might go out and read a book.
2. Fear that you might be the ignorant one yourself, therefore it is best to be the first to cite ignorance. Attack before you're attacked, so to speak.
3. The childish urge to insult, having nothing clever to say.

Unless the insult is backed up with reasoning, I think you can assume 2. or 3. It makes sense that it irritates you, but don't worry too much, as some people really are ignorant. Not that it will help them to hear it.

Becuase most peoeple are. Everyone believe that their views are the only ones that are right, and not a lot of people take the time to learn farther then what they believe. People speak out against other beliefs without understanding them, and that is what makes them ignorant.

However - it all depends on your point of view as to who is ignorant - Bush or "liberals" for instance.

Because those views are based upon ignorance and false beliefs. And those views may cause a lot of harm if not identified or checked. They may hurt other people without any reason.

Depends on the situation. For instance, to be racist is ignorant, in my opinion. So is sexism. So, depending on the particular "view', sometimes it can be considered "ignorant" if that view is based on illogical or invalid premises. But, if a person just has their own opinion about something and that opinion is a valid one, then that is not ignorance, but a matter of interpretation.

I believe it to be a slur used to avoid a real debate on the issue at hand. It's a way that some people use to demonise those with opposing views so they wouldn't have to admit that the opposing viewpoint may have validity. It's a rather immature defence mechanism which unfortunately works at times.

People call them that because they are uneducated or dont know any better. It annoys them because they are ignorant to certain things.

because a lot of people make snap judgements on things with out first doing research on them. If you havent read or researched about a topic, dont put in your two cents. I cant stand people who think they have all the answers and think a certain way with out looking into it more... to me that is ignorant!!
