In the French tradition they raise their arms and proclaim "It is not our guilt". You can't make this stuff up. Reported in the LA Times, front page on August 3 2006. Is this their little way of protesting our disgust for them?

I personally could care less about some swirls of paint on canvas and care almost as much as that about the French. They seem to protest anything non-French and act like they still have some sort of world influence. They're like that annoying guy at work who walks in when you and your acquainted co-workers are talking and inserts himself into the conversation or tries to take over with a new topic. No one really likes him but you just kind of wait knowing he will grow bored and wander off to annoy someone else soon.

According to the article, the French museum mishandled the alleged 'art'.

Because it is modern art, it is impossible to say if its destruction was a loss or a gain for the world's aesthetics.

Perhaps a picture of these two works of 'art' would let me decide if there is any cause for dismay over their loss.

The French are first at many things...
Like surrendering, being examples of why personal hygene is important, why not to take anything they say seriously.
I'm not surprised and really don't care what the french of today think of us. They'd be speaking german now if not for us... lol

I would hope that you would provide a bit more information about what you are asking, or at least about the article that you are referencing... a link perhaps.

Without any information about what it is that you are asking I will leave it at this for now...

Destroying art is bad in general, but what is defined as art is dependent on the culture of the person(s) evaluating it.

I don't know what you, Dave B, are refering to. I would be interested to know what this report of the LA Times is all about ? I would then be glad to express my views on the subject. I cease this opportunity to forward you and the correspondants who have already answered your question my best regards and "amicales salutations" from France.

Because the French are like little spoiled children. If something doesn't go their way they cry and throw a hissy fit!
