I have a suspicion that he is in suspended animation inside his crypt. He will arise during the great final conflict with Voldemort, something like Gandalf came back in Lord of the Rings.

I also have a sneaky feeling that Snapes pulled his punch when he hit Dumbledore with his spell, and that he is going to be shown as a double agent working against Voldemort.

Yes, he's quite dead. His picture appears in the headmaster's office in the end of the book. I believe that Snape killed Dumbledore to protect Malfoy. Dumbledore wasn't pleading for help or his life, he was asking Snape to kill him to make sure that Malfoy was kept safe.

I saw a funny shirt at a hot topic that said something like "On page 625, Dumbledore dies" saved me the trouble of reading the whole book.

yes he is dead.
thats sad i know, but thats what happened in the last book haryy potter and the half blood prince and snape killed him.
it was heart breaking.
but if you ask me i think he will be back in some the other way, or form.probably as a portrait in the head office as harry needs help from him.
i think he will come back. probably like harrys pareents came to help him.
but for now he is dead.

Seeing as he is a fictional character then he never existed. But in the books he has left his physical form and will be back in some other form to help kill Harry Potter.

In real life the original guy is. They replaced him, but not in the books, but i haven't read the last on yet

The actor is yeah, replaced him and in the 6th one (spoiler) he gets killed by Snape.
