Please do not because numb to the horrors of death and destruction because we are so far away from it all. Children are dieing in terrible ways that most of us would be emotionally damaged for life if we saw them die in that manner. All I can say is look at this picture of a Man who lost a famliy member and you will see what war is all about and it is never good. If you can and if you have a heart put your self in he postion and tell me that this war is a good thing for the world. Would you sing the same tune if this was you face. What is our President asking us as Citizins of this nation to scarafice in return for what this man has lost. How many of you will pick up a gun and fight in Iraq. Please dont think I am some bleading heart liberal because I am a former Marine and I say that a lot because people need to know that there are Services member out their that do not agree with what is going on in the world right now.

I would like to read a memo from Marine Major General Smedly Buttler. He was awarded Two Medals of Honor while he was still alive. It is call WAR IS A RACKET. The one of the first things you learn in boot camp is this Marines Name. Please read for your own education on why people have to die in war. I would follow General Butler to the grave in battle if he asked it of me. I can not say the same about our President.

It is our duty not just as services members but as citizens to ask the questions of our President why we went to war and is it justified. If we all had your opionion the we could go to war any time the President said so. We have to be smarter then that and learn from our mistakes. If you belive this war was wrong you must voice your opionion a speak out. If you dont stand for what is right then what do you stand for

I am not nuts. But when I read things in this forum like people calling the deaths of these people collateral damage. I think that shows a disconnect from huminty.

As you well know, Marine, death is a fact of life, and life is a test given to us by God. It may be over in a moment, or it may go on for many years. It's what we do with our lives, long or short, that is important. Mother Teresa of Calcutta said "A life not spent in doing for others is a life not worth living".

I think that the USA is not a nation who has had to experience war first hand, and is therefore incapable, as a nation, to understand or even fathom what war is. Myself included.
I think until you live through something that tragic, for months, years, a lifetime, we have no idea what war does.
I think that people are actually not comfortable with death, and that's why we aren't subjected to the images of the death that takes place in war.
I think that most Americans understand that as a service member, it is not up to you to designate what wars you will or will not participate in. As a marine, you were not a politician. You were given a mission to accomplish, and that's that. What good would it do you to dispute the politics of the mission?
I think our president is asking us to support our troops presence in Iraq while they work toward stabilizing and rebuilding their country and their government. I think. I can't really be bothered with whether or not we went to Iraq for valid reasons or not at this point because we did. It's done. We ARE there. We participated, and we do need to clean up our mess and then get out.
I am not a fan of President Bush, not a republican, not war monger, and I am as I always have been and always will be, eternally gratefull for our service members.
Thank you

Death is fine, as long as it happens to the other guy over there. when it happens here, it's not good.

N O T !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A simplistic answer, indeed. but your plea is heartwrenching. Especially when so many "red state" thinkers feel all this murder and mayhem is a good thing. I have been outspoken about the wanton murder of Arabs for a long time, but the other day I met a Lebanese man here in NY who had just learned that his little nieces and nephews were blown up and body parts were strewn all over the street.. I am physically sick and it is hard to get the image out of my head.

people are comfortable with murder as long as those being murdered belong to another race - we even take pride in our nationalistic mudering ways and wave our flags high - look at the middle east situation now - jews are considered white, Muslims not...
