I am 6'2", 200 lbs. I am trail and track riding but not racing.

Take into consideration the difference in maintenance required and how easy it is to perform. I don't know much about bikes and will have to learn on my own.

the 250f is half the power of the yz250, yz250f is a 4-stroke, it it made to compete with the yz125 (a 2 stroke), the yz250 is a 2 stroke and is to compete with the 450f. depends on what you are looking for.

The F , for sure. It's a four stroke, and a little more managable, than it's two stroke brother. I'd be tempted to go for a cheaper bike to learn on, though. It's a lot of cash, to plough into a fence. Go for something with a little less power, for starters, like an XR 200. You'll save yourself a load of skin, and cash, if you make a mistake. Whatever you decide, enjoy the ride !!!!!!!

A yz125 is a techniques greater helpful than a ttr 230, being that it quite is a race bike and the ttr sequence are path motorcycles. And for the 250's the 250 2stroke is going to have greater "skill"! remember its not the bike in all situations!
