These are some things that people in America fear the most:

Stage Fright,
Black Men,
Death,
The end of the world,
Ghosts, and
People with a Middle Eastern look.

The only thing we should fear is GOD.

We are taught to fear the unknown and misunderstood. There are many people who would not agree with items in your list, especially Black Men and People with a Middle Eastern Look.
I live in a very mixed community and there are many wonderful Middle Eastern looking people here! Also, there is nothing to fear about a black man over a white man they can both be equally dangerous. How about fear something more true for many people like the possibility of a 3rd World War? People are so wrapped up in their lives that the idea of something large and dangerous happening across the world doesn't seem important, but it will affect us here. I fear that people who lack empathy will control all countries and we will see what fear truly is.

Hmm. I get some stage fright. But I'm not sure that's fearing something I don't understand. I think it's just being shy at times. lol. I don't fear those other things, except for ghosts. I have a bit of fear about ghosts because I am *convinced* that they are real. And it's just a bit creepy to think that something/someone could be right there without you ever knowing it.

But I'm not afraid of them in the sense that I think they're all out to get us or something. I think most of them are just spirits that are trapped between here and the afterlife. They may be unhappy, but they mean no harm. Then there are those who DO mean harm, and might be classified as more than just "ghosts"... if you get my drift.

But anyway, about your question... I think people fear things that are unknown to them because they don't know what to expect. People like to be prepared for any situation that arises (or at least convince themselves that they are prepared). They sometimes become afraid when they're faced with a new person or situation that's different from what they're used to. They feel vulnerable... like they wouldn't know how to protect themselves from whatever harm may come from this new entity,

The need for security is something primal and instinctual. It exists in all of us. I'm not saying that to excuse things like racism or anything like that. I'm just stating what I believe to be the root cause of those evils. But our challenge as human beings is to exist on a higher level than the primal. We are part divine, created in God's image. We are not meant to be directed by purely primal instincts. We're capable of higher feeling and thought. So it is the responsibility of humanity to strive towards that.

Because they are not willing to understand it and research the information. Because if they just stay in the dark about many subjects, they can blame their ignorance on why they did something.

You just answered you own question. you have some people that if it's something new to them or they don't understand it they shun it. That's just the way the world is.something that's out of the norm
