Generally, once a transmission starts to slip, there's not much hope for it. But the one thing you could try is adding a can of General Motors Transmission Conditioner. This additive will "swell" all the rubber seals so the clutch pistons will grab quicker, and MAY possibly stop the slipping for a while. The only other additive I would try would be "Trans-X" if you can find it, but the GM additive is about the best I have used.

Well, it is 6 years old. As others have said, replace the fluid in the transmission and you might try some additives. It may not help, if not you might consider selling the vehicle and getting something else. Even if it does help it might be the time to trade it in or sell it.

There's a couple things you can do that are cheaper than a transmission replacement.
1. Smell the oil on the Trans fuild dipstick; if it smells burnt then the oil needs changed.
2. You can see if a mechanic can adjust the bands on the transmission, this may help your problem too
3. lastly, change the oil have then use a Pontiac/GM approved condtioner on refill, this is not a guarantee fix, but if all else fails this may help.

get some lucas additive. and add it. just make sure not to severly over-fill your transmition, because that can cause problems as well. stp is good too. just don't use any cheapo wal mart crap in it. go to a parts store and ask them. they will tell you what additives are safe for you car.
good luck.
