theres a certain way of putting it on

First: foundation or face powder. You can choose foundation that is matte since it is summer you don't want an oil based foundation. Application is easy you should have a make-up sponge, dot your face with the foundation two on forehead, cheeks, chin & nose. With the sponge blend the foundation onto your skin. Itf it seems to be too thin add a little mor foundation (a little). Top off with face powder to even out the look.
Second: Eyes shadow, eyeliner or both. You should have an applicator for your shadow never use your finger it will add oils to the shadow. Liner you can either liner the top lid by the lashes or line the bottom lid NEVER BOTH.
Third: Lipstick, gloss, liner. If you are confident enough you line your lips in a compatible color that will complement your lipstick or gloss NOT steal the show. Dark lip liner & light lipstick doesn't work so DON'T DO IT!! You could just go with the lipstick but please don't over shade your lips if they are not full dont add an inch of artificial lip area, again its stupid just a touch over your natural lip line will suffice.
Fourth: Blush easy does it on the blush dont go dramatic like the fashion magazines. A little goes a long way start from the center on your ear where the cheekbone ends blend down like the curve of a pork chop DO NOT put a straight line of blush on your cheek or a round dot its WRONG & looks stupid.
Lastly do a once over with the face powder gently so not to blend everything together. You are good to go, Have fun with whatever you are doing.

First, lipstick. Find a neutral color; nothing too bold. Make sure it's new, since you're new at the makeup thing. Make sure you stay on the red of your lips or it'll look crooked.

Next, a little blush. Find one with a small brush. Just a little on the cheekbone and blend it in w/fingertips upwards on the diagonal after you brush it on.

Last, a little mascara. Brown. Be careful with the brush or you'll hurt your eye.
That should do it for now; with practice, you can move on to the other stuff. Good luck!

FACE:
clean face
moisturize
primer
concealer on spots
with a moist sponge, apply foundation all over face
gel or powder blush on cheekbones/apples of cheeks
with large brush, buff on face powder to "set" all makeup

EYES:
apply eyeshadow w/ brush, darker shade closer to lash line, lighter shade to highlight beneath the brow
Black or brown eyeliner, liquid for dramatic, pencil for smudge
(tilt head back, look down into the mirror, smudge/apply eyeliner on/between top lashes on eyelid)
***since you're older, never draw the line going downwards, once u pass the 3/4 mark of your outer eye, draw the line straight a little past the eye
lower eyelashes either line w/ white shadow or pencil
black mascara on top lashes (bottom too for dramatic)

LIPS:
line lips w/ a lip pencil, feather inwards
apply lipstick
put lips together, blot and you're good to go!!

good luck~

1. Apply a concealer that is one shade lighter than your foundation. Dot it on over any blemishes or under-eye circles and blend with your fingertips or a makeup sponge. If your concealer tends to cake, apply eye cream first.

2. Choose foundation that matches your skin tone exactly. Apply it in dots over the central part of your face, then blend it out with a makeup sponge or your fingertips until it covers your entire face (see Related eHows).

3. Use a loose or pressed powder to keep foundation and concealer on longer. Use pressed powder to touch up when you're away from home.

4. Do your eyebrows next. Use powdered eyebrow shadow on brows instead of pencil, which can often look unnatural. Apply it with a hard, slanted brush.

5. Choose three colors of eye shadow: light, medium and dark. Use the dark only to line your upper eyelid, in a fairly thin line along the upper lashes. Use the medium shade for the crease and the lightest shade for the area under the eyebrow. There are many variations on eye shadow application techniques (see Related eHows).

6. Apply eyeliner. Use a cake eyeliner with a damp, thin liner brush, or an eyeliner pencil, and line the lower lid below the lashes. Line only the outer two-thirds of the lower lid, or all the way across if you're trying to achieve a darker look. Line all the way across the upper lid (just above the lash line and as close to the lashes as possible), or start the line where your lashes begin.

7. Apply mascara to upper and lower lashes, in two thin coats to avoid clumpiness. Choose brown mascara if your coloring is fair; black or brown-black works well for darker coloring. Or try a colored mascara such as navy or plum for fun, but don't go too bright if you want to be taken seriously.

8. Smile to find the apples of your cheeks, and apply blush to the apples or below, whichever you prefer. If you have to blend in blush, it's too bright.

9. Choose a lipstick color that's suited to your skin tone and that's perfect for your day look. You can mix colors and textures to suit your moods and your outfits (see Related eHows).

10. Line lips after applying lipstick, not before. That way you won't end up with a dark circle of lip liner after your lipstick has worn off. Avoid combining very dark lip liner and pale lipstick.

Tips:
Follow the steps in the order given, and remember to clean and moisturize your face before applying makeup.

Choose brighter or darker tones for a stronger look.

Clean makeup brushes by gently washing them in warm water and mild gel shampoo. Air-dry them overnight.

Don't skimp on makeup tools. High-quality tools make application easier and faster.

If you decide to curl your eyelashes, do this just before applying mascara'never after. Insert your eyelashes into the curler, squeeze just once, and hold for a few seconds.

Keep it simple. Try eyeliner and lipstick and a neutral eye shadow. No loud or bold colors. This weekend, go to a department store and let someone at the make up counter make you up and give you free tips. See what you like on you and let her how you what you will need and how to apply it.

what kind of make-up are you referring to? if it is foundation what type? creme, creme to powder, power, loose powder. if it is loose power or even matted powder use a make up brush to dust it on. cremes use a sponge and lightly dab a little on the sponge and apply it on you face very evenly. and always go to the neck with your makeup never leave any lines allowing people to see where your makeup stops on you skin. blend it in good. then apply all you other like liner, eye shadow and lip stick. make sure if you put shadow and lipstick on make sure it's color coodinated. have fun girl. play around with and and always try to make it look natural.

hope this hepled

eye shadow-matte. brush on lid and into crease, blend with fingers until no lines show. LIner-draw along lash lineall the way across top lid. bottom lid is more optional, but lining halfway from outside corner to half way across bottom of lash line & blending makes eyes look wider. Mascarra top lashes, bottom if you want, don't overdo, especially on bottom. Blkush-go lightly from apple slightly diagonal up. blend, blend, blend. Lipstick-neutral for starters might be best. Skip liner until someone can really show you how. one swipe across bottom lip, blot lips together, touch up any missed spots and blot with tissue. Good luck-

I agree with the free consult. If you want to start wearing makup you want to be sure to have the right colors. Go to your major dept store and pick a counter, lancom, mac, cliniqe, or whomever. They will apply makeup to you and you can pay attention and even pick up a few items.
