The only point of invasion that seems viable form a tactical point is Mexico. The Canadian North, as much as they like to dis us, too, is irrevocably a friend (gotta love 'em). Mexico is now in a state of flux (seems the entire world is). It is almost as if with the fall of the Soviet Union all the world’s hot spots are blowing up. It would take more to examine that then we have room in a small answers post.

Forces in Central and South America can amass a force of some 150,000. Not exactly a mass invasion, but a fair first strike forces to open the door for others. Not too sure who those others would be. Whoever they would be would have to cross the Pacific or Atlantic. Anyone trying to cross at Alaska would be stopped by the US and Canadians. The US Army would have it hands full as most of our troops are scattered elsewhere in the Globe. The National Guard, already bled white, would have to fill the gaps. I can see a point coming quickly in such an event that our forces would be demobilized due to the lack of gasoline. The citizens would be bared from getting any in a very short time. Our Navy, being for the most part Nuclear, would diminish any troop transports, and cost the enemy dearly in equipment, at best them may slip about a third of any force to the western hemisphere. For the sake of argument, let’s say 500,000 actually manage to get to Central America for staging. I just don't see it happening; the cost to the opposition is too great.

I think we are back at the old WW III scenario. ICBMs launched to knock down our cities and our ability to prosecute a war. What you, and I, will be dealing with is the restoration of order in the post strike chaos. Get in good with your local Sheriff, that is who will be needing the manpower.

There is no way America would be occupied by other nations. What is then the point of always criticizing and controlling others on military development while having the highest military expenditure in the world; and forcing other nation such as China to revalue her currency while never make any effort to reduce deficit by reducing military budget.

Are you kidding? I would welcome the occupier with flowers and chocolates. If it meant real regime change in our own country, I'm all for it. No occupier could be much worse than our current government. The U.S. thinks it is so big and tough, but if the weight of many armed, industrialized countries joined forces and invaded, we wouldn't stand a chance. Did you know that in a recent war games simulation, even Israel defeated our forces? Trust me, the U.S. isn't that strong.

It would take up some more time. The former U.S.S.R was a strong power with a veto also in their hand. It has gone into splinter groups and hence no other country can get the support now from that area. Some more alignments are bound to take place, the way USA behaves. and the resistance to USA may build up then. I am not a USA baiter but feel absolute power corrupts absolutely.

Only if they raised taxes, or maybe if they forced me to learn some new complicated anthem.

Otherwise.. I think I'd pretty much be OK with them occupying the country.

I'd defend my family and fight anyone, even other Americans, who tried to control us. (Which is what the Iraqis are doing and they get labeled as terrorists.)
The irony is the American rednecks who say things like "Nuke Iraq", are the same ones who would go apeshit and start killing people left and right if America was ever occupied.

Not if our government had gone mad and the occupying force was trying to help us, like in Iraq. But, if there were no good reasons, hell yea!

Israel is not occupying another nation in Palestine. No Palestine has ever existed and Hamas does not want it to apparently.
