I thought it was great in the beginning but think it's lost it's spark a bit. Used to love the fact that the person who died at the beginning was an important part of the story. They just seem like an insignificant part of the story now.
Anyway, haven't watched the last ever series yet, but was thinking about getting it for my birthday. What do you think?

Definitely watch it. It was the greatest season of them all, in my opinion. Happy Birthday, now go buy it.

I liked it from the beginning and then it got weird (if that's possible since it's already a strange show) about the time when Brenda was all drugged out and "seeing" a teenage drug dealer kid and Nate with that Lisa chick. I did find myself watching it towards season 5. I got hooked again it's a good series but if you don't know for sure if you want it for your birthday I would ask for the seasons that you did like (if you don't have them already) and rent the seasons you missed from Blockbuster or NetFlix

From what I read that the show definately goes out with a bang. Like "Queer As Folk" coming to a halt I did not like how the characters you watched from the begining lames out on the last show. Sooooo swinging back to SFU the characters have a how should I say Closure. Some good and some like WHOA!

I think it was the BEST!! I miss it so much but now like HBO's Big Love!! But back to 6 ft under---Last series is worth watching!!

Why don't you rent it and then if you like it you can buy it with your birthday money (if you get any) either way at least you would have seen it and not be wondering if you should. Or you could watch reruns, I'm sure they are on somewhere!

The last season was very good. Since they knew it was the final season they were able to finalize all the characters lives and the finally was great.

Yeah If you have seen the rest of them why not, the last season is just as morbid as the rest. I wish they would have done more though they ended it too soon.
