I think it's very valid. But you have to be ready to do it. People nowadays are waiting until their late 20's / early 30's to get married... This is a good idea. Get yourself established fianancially, and have a career you enjoy before bringing those burdens in a relationship. Also, you want to have plenty of "sowing your oats" time. Once you get tired of this, you are definitely ready to settle down. But, you can't just lust after a person, call it love and get married. And you can't plan on going by your age...say, ok, 27 I'll buy a house, 30 I'll get married, 32 I'll have children... Life doesn't live by those rules...
Once you are ready, you find true love and you don't have to settle for anything less than what you want. That is when you can have a life long commitment to one person.

It is definitely a valid idea and ideal. Whether it is actually achievable is another debate, but the desire to find one person whom you are comfortable enough to relax your boundaries around and be able to spend a lifetime with is indeed both valid and worthy.

Absolutely! I personally think it's valid because I am completely in love with my husband. I have been for the entire time we have been together. I made promises to both him and more importantly to God that I would stay by his side through it all 'til death do us part' and I DO NOT break promises to anyone!
