Israel was not the aggressor. They are defending their country against the aggressor, Hezbollah. Children have been killed and maimed in Israel, as well.
Why is Hezbollah composed of such cowards? If they really cared for the Lebanese people, they would not inbed their munitions in areas where families are living! It is not by accident that they do this. It is their strategy that is causing the Israelis to strike these areas.
Is Israel supposed to say, "Kidnap our soldiers, we won't look for them. Fire at us and kill our people, and we won't shoot back, because we might kill somebody, too?"
You can bet that if Canada or Mexico fired rockets into the USA, the American forces would turn North America into a bloodbath beyond description.
Ungodly? Almost every war that has been fought on this planet was done with both sides saying, "God is on our side." The god of the Old Testament was an angry and vengeful god. Check out the battles of King David. When he won a battle, the soldiers of the defeated army were laid out in a row, and every 10th man had his head cut off.

holy does not mean peaceful. there is plenty of war mentioned in holy books, there have been a lot of innocent deaths. it is a very unfortunate side effect of war.
