Recently saw "Be Here to Love Me", the Townes Van Zandt documentary. Was reminded of what an extraordinary songwriter he was. Lyle singing "If I Needed You" or "Flying Shoes" ... gives me goosebumps.

Townes Van Zandt singing Townes Van Zandt gives me goosebumps. Paul Westerberg singing "Runaway Wind" always gives me the shivers as well, but nothing tops Townes singing "For the Sake of the Song."

Edit: I'm kicking myself for missing that documentary! I caught the last 5 minutes of it.
